You are in the right place, Mom4. I don't take any meds but just had to jump in when I saw the title. However I've done a few week long detox using valium (diazepam) and I have some experience of acamprosate (campral).

I bumped some threads for you. I had a couple of threads that I started on baclofen, with a titration schedule, side effects, etc. but I had those removed (in hindsight I wish they had been left up). It doesn't matter though, as the people that are actively posting on the Bac threads are very savvy, and they'll point you in the right direction. )

My observations;

I don't think Dr Phil is a medical dr, or at least if he was he's been struck off (ie lost his licence to practice medicine).

I have seen posts on here from people he seems to have helped.

There is a wealth of information on baclofen use on this forum, which I hear his book is based upon(the information here).

He appears to offer a support service since he can't himself prescribe baclofen and now has a link to an online pharmacy.

It's possible to buy baclofen from these online places which will ask a few questions before 'prescribing' but I'm not so sure it's a qualified Dr doing the prescribing.

Which ever way you try, many have done it here just by reading the information available here.

Is Dr Phill a fraud?

I think he's being very clever in the way he's marketting himself, taking advantage of a few quirks in UK law. One of these quirks is being able to call yourself a Doctor when you aren't registered or practicing as a Medical Doctor. He does actually admit on his site that he is an "enthusiastic amateur".

A few people think he's great.

If you do pay him money please be aware of the facts.

I don't think he's registered with any professional bodies at all (counsellors in the UK have a pro body, as do those in the pure medical field), so not sure who oversees what he does, or what happens should it all go wrong. Public liability ins?

Yes he has.

I think the thing a lot of people don't like is that he puts across the image he's a medical doctor with all the protection and reassurance that entails, and he has used information freely available on this site.
