Pain meds and baclofen, seriously, help?

So can anyone talk to this?

No pain meds are helping me (prescribed) for my herniated or maybe worse discs.

Is it the bac? Do I need to come off it?

The doc up'd me to percosets and still no relief. That's pretty strong stuff. I even did the most evil of things and tried some drinks with it. I know killing my liver and ruining the point of the why I am here.

Still waiting on my MRI clearance but this is putrid.

I will take any advice given.

Hi Cos, i can't say if the Bac is the reason, but going from exp i would think not.
I had a huge Herniation/rupture on the L4/L5 which was giving me Sciatica all the way to my foot, at one stage i was on 400mg of Tramadol and 8 Tylex 30mg/500mg a day and to be honest the pain never went away, they did take the edge of it but sometimes the side effects could be worse than the cure and coming off them when the pain eased was a tough week .
i was told there was very little i could take to stop the pain and didn't want to push for morphine as i knew i should have told my doc i am an alkie and didn't want to swop one addiction for another.
It took two Steriod Epidural for the pain to leave the leg but still have pain in my back.
I really hope you find some answers or at least get some relief .

I am not sure about BAC but it may be similar to Naltrexone:

While an individual is taking naltrexone, some strong painkillers will not work for them. This is because many strong painkillers are opioid drugs, and naltrexone works by blocking the effects of opioids.

If, for some reason, the person needs strong painkillers, it is important that medical staff are aware that they are taking naltrexone. They will then be able to prescribe a different kind of drug for pain relief.

An emergency wallet card is a good way of alerting medical staff that a patient is taking naltrexone.

Thank you all. I appreciate the help. I really do.

Until these docs get back to me (guess I have to keep chasing them down) I have to deal. I just don't know what I did to get this. Too much sex?

See if you can PM Lo0p and ask him. If his box is still full, put up a thread and call him out. And see if you can find the thread he put up about this, and what he figured out. it's here, but I'm only with phone and I'd go crazy trying to find it.

I had some major Dental things done while on Bac and the pain meds seemed to work pretty good for me. I hope you resolve you health problems soon. :l

Im sure its not the bacs. Most lesser opioiods have a lot of tylenol in it,which is NOT liver freindly esp if drinking. Also do not up the bac too much as it can produce dissiciociative anaglesia in some people-similar to Nitrous and DXM.(usually not too pleasant).Hope u get well COS and and soon.

Pain meds and baclofen, seriously, help?

                        Good morning, Cos!

I had some back problems last fall. It was the pits! And nothing nearly as serious as what you're dealing with. The worst of it (for me) is that I couldn't get comfortable. Also that I would seem to be getting better and then I would make one wrong move and it would flare up again.

I don't think the bac is adding to the pain. That wasn't my experience and I haven't heard or read of anything like that. I took pain meds and they definitely worked for me, without repercussion in terms of craving. But I've been on bac a looooooong time! I don't know. I hope it's not making things worse in terms of craving for you. Keep in mind that pain has all of these (fascinating!) physiological responses, too. Anxiety, stress, all those hormones rushing in to try and help...It's a tsunami of brain chemicals that respond to chronic pain!

I hope you are able to get that MRI ASAP so you can get some answers and solutions. Keep in mind that the liver is a very hardy organ! If your liver tests are or were normal, it's very unlikely that this is going to have a dramatic impact on your overall liver health.

I hope you feel much better and very soon.

You have a valid point. All I know is my wife's back is jacked up too.

Is there some funky tropical disease that would mimic fractured spines?

                          Crazy, MRI on Thursday finally.

Thanks Ne. Actually I was wondering if maybe the bac was blocking the effects.

So my doc is now giving me percoset. It diverts me in the sense that my head does swim when I take it. Pain is still there.

                            Just odd.

                            Thanks again!

                              Cos,

I cut my leg with a circular saw recently, not as bad as it sounds, but still pretty bad and painful (and gross, I've got pictures if anyone is interested :H).

They stitched me up and gave me serious painkillers. I took them no problem. It was only a few days but they worked.

I hope you feel better soon.

                              Cheers!
