Hi,
drb120, you bring up a good point with your question about medical information in the event of an ER visit. I figured after I flip the switch and back dosage down I'd do something (script in wallet, necklace, bracelet). Right now I have my script in my car but it's for less than half of what I'm taking. Everyone else, what do you do?

I want to repost this post by DoggyGirl for new folks like me. This was briefly mentioned previously in this thread.

Is everyone familiar with how the "Ignore" feature works? I would like to suggest that people use that feature with posters they don't like or agree with, rather than start "board wars" that end up needlessly upsetting many forum members. Rather than stalking posters you don't like all over the forum, and challenging them in a WAY off topic manner, why not just put that poster on Ignore? That way you never have to read and subsequently be bothered by anything they say. That way the entire forum does not have to endure the bickering and general upset.

Click on the user name in question. When their profile info comes up, look at the blue bar across the top. There is an option to "add this person to your ignore list."

I realize this might take all the fun out of it for people who are determined to FIGHT and WIN. And somehow enjoy the drama of the upset. Hopefully we are all trying to grow and mature beyond the need to do that sort of thing.

If you think a post violates the terms of service here at MWO, report it to the moderator by clicking the triangle button in the upper right corner of the post. And/or send a private message to the poster and settle your differences off the forum.

Just wanted to point out that we have options beyond stalking, jabbing, attacking, and fighting.

Well, no, it's not all over the internet. It is all over your thread though. You're the only person I know of who uses baclofen to get high. It's a strange chemical to choose for that purpose.

I found very little to support that people get hi on baclofen.

I've read posts about people trying to. Almost all came back saying it was pointless.

I never found anything enjoyable about it. Most of us go through hell with it and only because nothing else had been successful in our lives.

I certainly don't enjoy taking it 4x day and I still have tinnitus from it. I live with it.

I've had numerous pm's describing the hypomania or as some called it megalomania. I won't continue this point. The psychiatric comorbidities is interesting. So is the daytime somnolence that seems to come on unpredictably. My overall point is simply, this drug is not that easy to self administer. There are problems. It is not a panacea. That said It has made me alcohol free, 100% for 8 months. I come here for support, and to share experience. Not to get in arguments. Yes it works for me. Now I need to manage the SE's and don't want to bury my head in the sand about abuse potential because a few of you say I am crazy.

The ER after an accident-thing is a really important point, and deserves probably its own thread. I have one experience in an ER, with a note in my wallet that I was >150mg/day. The doc's in the ER did not seem to care. Another member shared a rather horrible experience in hospital for several days, and the lack of knowledge about bac and the withdrawal potential and effects.

Taking too much bac at one time is absolutely miserable. I imagine that anyone trying to get high on it won't try again.

The hypomania is very real, and if it were sustainable, I would have a serious problem with baclofen. Or rather, my subjects would; I could rule the world if I could sustain that effect, but it fades. It is not something that seems to arise from casual 'get-high' use, but something that arises in a few people as they titrate. I have never read about the effect arising in people who randomly take a dose of baclofen and try and get high.

I have had a better time than most with titrating, and it's still not the easiest drug in the world to take. It would be a funny existence indeed if this was my go-to drug for letting my hair down...

Late to the party - or maybe early. I am now on Indian standard time.

Regarding what to do in case of emergeny while on HDB, here's what I did before I got scripts.:carry a full bottle in my purse all the time; I stillI have 2 very close friends who each have enough baclofen in their homes to safely titrate down from my maintenance dose. One of them has enough money to find me, wherever I am. I travel overseas a lot. Usually pretty easy to find out about bac OTC, which IS available here in Inda. And I tell at least one friend in every city, including my travel agent, what has to be done in case of emergency. 3+ years an no emergency yet (well, as long as I quit stupidly overdosing, which hasn't required assistance:-/).

Now I have script for US and personal doctor/friend on-hand, too. That happened by taking all the literature to her and explaining that it was already working a/mess I had ordered online.

My kangaroo received a plastic med bottle from www.liquid baclofen.com She is delighted, because it makes even outand-about liquid bac easy.

I don't think I've seen too many bac events, as many, varied, and sometimes bizarrely as different episodes unfold, that can't be addressed within a certain measure of safety by consistent, logical consideration. I know . . . hard qualities to come by in a "bac crisis." Which is another good reason that at least one other person is fully informed and up to date about your bac protocol.

Having succeeded in becoming free from drinking against our will, I hope we will find the NEXT key to the hidden universe: How to get permission to post "STICKIES" of fundamental information, like this, for MWO 'ers just beginning the bac-path.for now, we just keep writing it all, over and over and over and . . .

I also travel a lot internationally and your post really made me think. I haven't told anyone about my Baclofen usage never mind my current dosage - not even my wife. I was hoping to declare victory before I let her in on mwo, but will definately inform her before I travel again.

Yes, your wife absolutely should know. I am sure she will be happy. Especially if you tried and lost in the past with other programs.

Mine had her concerns but guess she was glad I was doing something about it. Send her some information on it. Mine like the doctor articles.
