An Open Letter to Newbies, Lurkers, and...Everyone Else Too

What would be the point. He is like Peter Pan turning up at an airport and warning people against believing they can fly because he "believes" that only people who "believe" in him can fly... and he has never seen an airplane and cannot understand how they work.

There is a difference between understanding the scientific basis for a drug working and seeing it work, on the one hand, and the belief structure that surrounds AA and recovery through exercise of a "will" which emanates from the metaphysical world of the "psyche".

He seems to think that baclofen doesn't work and it is only a belief in it that makes us think it works. I have had a belly full of people like him in my own life. I don't need to come here and hear that and there doesn't seem to be any "telling him".

    Olivier Ameisen

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

      Exactly!

      We know what works too.

You, on the other hand, don't seem to know what works.
So stop pretending that you know.

Because I don't want to pollute the forum, I didn't, but I would have liked to start a new thread where SexMonster sais: "Viagra almost destroyed my wife" and then onequaff replies: "It is a fact that 5% of the people with ED get an erection without Viagra or the help of the ED-anonymous. You have the same chance to be cured with an oyster/asparragus diet."

But hey, what would be the fun of that. I would probably hurt the feelings of onequaff and who would want that?

As I have said before, you really have no idea what you are talking about. Bac does *not* have a 80% success rate. You are claiming that anecdotal stories trumps scientific studies. That is absolute nonsense. If you really believe it - and I think you do - you are just a nut.

I don't know if bac works or not, and I await the clinical studies. I do know that your claims are just cult-like rantings. Are there more than 10 people here who takes more than 30 mg/day of bac, drink within the guidelines, and work in a real job (one that does not allow you to go in to your office and sleep for hours) ?

Then why are you talking? Try listening. You might learn something. :H

So all the posters here know that bac works? : ) I bet most of you are not even taking high dose bac ( more than 80 mg/day).

I want to leave Windy's thread - she deserves nothing but congrats. I'm going to stick to the Golf Master thread (the guy who almost lost his career as a doctor because he was stoned on bac).
