Gotta read these quick before Reggie deletes them.
Thanks so much for dropping by, friend. I've missed having you around. Sorry you're back in the mess with the rest of us. But at least we know now to claw our ways out of it, right?

Baclofen wears off
Well, indifference is back. The last couple of nights have been effortlessly and enjoyably sober. My wife is setting off this morning perfectly happy with leaving our son with me. Now I will go back to 240 and just sit there for a while before deciding what course of action to take. It's reassuring to know that this path is always there for me.
It was a much, much easier titration this time around, I think made easier by the certain knowledge of what was waiting for me. The initial titration was a stab in the dark; here I had a goal, and the surefire knowledge that it worked.

Thank you all, for the well wishes, it means a lot!
Regg, I found it at 325, which I got to pretty much immediately (probably about a week). I sat at that, knowing that previously 240 had done it for me, and so would probably do it again. So now I'll go back to 240, in one move and in one dose, for convenience, and see how that settles. Because it isn't fair to put my family through experiments, I will stay at that dose for the foreseeable future, trying to come lower every now and again. The only time I would consider coming off baclofen would be if I planned to be completely alcohol free, in which case I would definitely try it again.
I would want to come off baclofen for a couple of reasons. It's a drag taking something every day, there's no doubt. If that is to be so, then so be it. Also, although extensive studies have been done, they haven't really been done at these doses. To be honest, that scares me not a jot though; there are numerous examples walking around this city of what daily drinking does to your body and mind, so that argument just pales in comparison. Even if baclofen just turns you off 30 years down the line, that's better than 30 years stumbling toward the off button, stepping on fast-forward and rewind every day through the process.
Long live baclofen. Although it is not the be-all-and-end-all of methods out of this shittrap, it for me is the the most beautiful and perfect solution to an otherwise insoluble conundrum.

I'd leave it at that...but it's me so I'll add more. Thanks for the poignant reminder. It's easy (so easy!) to forget the whole "there go I but for the grace of baclofen" part of taking the damn pills every day. But I really believe it was my only way out. And I know for sure that it is (at least for me) the absolutely only way to be free from booze completely. It's not now, and never was, a matter of wanting to moderate my drinking, or the ubiquitous longing to be able to toast with champagne. As much as I loathed being a drunk, I could not stop wanting to drink. Until I took enough of the pills.
Glad you are back from the dark side, bleep. And congratulations on a job well done.

Baclofen wears off
We could re-name this thread "Baclofen Is a Freakin' Miracle Again!"
It actually brings tears to my eyes, and a taste of the original, on-my-knees gratitude that flooded through me when I realized I would never have to drink like "that" again, to read these posts. And to see you'se guys bac, and demonstrating another something that no one actually KNEW before - you can re-bac when needed - well, wow. Just wow.
And I just want to point out that baclofen offers ANOTHER freedom, aside from the demise you describe so well, bleep-ely. We don't have to make not taking a drink be the most important thing we do every day, for the rest of our lives. A-mazing!
And, yes, gives us responsibility for what IS the most important thing to do. That one I probably miss, more than I make the mark, but that is the adventure, eh? I don't have to compound angsts (you know, angst multiplied . . . the word just looks funny) - drunk, hungover, feel-like-shit AND searching for the meaning of life. Either is a full-time job. I'm all for model-building, buying a new house, enrolling in school, starting a crazy-ass online research chemical business, traveling around India on motorbikes driven by friends and strangers, alike (this is me, currently), or just what ever the fuck you can think of that feels interesting. Get curious. I mean, it's a question, isn't it?
This came my way a long, long time ago: ?Don?t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.? ― Howard Thurman
Here, here to defying the world by jumping off the cliff with baclofen and MWO, bleep, Reggie, Ig, Ne, Kroncarr, COS, Cassander, Eve, Mary, Stuck, Chi , et al (and I do mean all, et al) . . . wherever you are today.
Maybe we're all cliff-jumpers, at heart, anyway. :h"Wherever you are is the entry point." --Kabir

Baclofen wears off
Thanks guys. Red, that's a good post. What you say about not having not drinking be the focus is so so true, and liberating. My wife and I, well mostly my wife, discussed the shopping I need to do when I go to meet them on Wednesday, and it was only this morning that I realised the only part of the list we hadn't gone into detail on was booze.
Reg, as to my salvation, well, I'm no longer a hopeless pisscat, but there's plenty of scope to ruin it otherwise. And to paraphrase Groucho Marx (I think!), I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me as a member. But I know exactly what you mean, and thanks.
There is great hope. You've done it before, so you know what's on offer, and that makes it much easier to just get it done. If you are reading this, and wondering whether or not to try baclofen, I urge you to just do it. The freedom is hard to describe.
