    Baclofen wears off

It's definitely more convenient, but I think that's the only advantage it has. I'm pretty sure there are no other issues, I was on one dose for a good few months last time and it worked fine. Saying that, I tried it in one dose last night, and it's definitely something I'm going to have to work up to! Was buzzing madly as I lay in bed.

For sure Ne, drinking is an expensive sport!

        Baclofen wears off

        Hi Bleep
Interested to hear what your thoughts are about long term sobriety now.
Seems Baclofen can do the job again if needed. Wondered about the SE's. To be direct, hows the libido nowadays?
Good to read about your success. Kudos to you.
Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

          Thanks Ig.

Pretty much SE free, except the old favourite. I'm hoping it will diminish in time. Libido is fine, the ability to carry it through is where the pain is.

And today I have a scorching hangover. We had people over for dinner, and the evening got very pleasantly out of hand. It was a conscious decision to go with it, which I am very much regretting today! Drinking otherwise has been very good, with most days on zero.

Overall I'm pretty pleased, it must be said.

I meant the "ability to carry it through". Don't know the medical term for it but tthought it would come under the general heading of libido.

Not to become too familiar but I also suffer from the same thing. Sure agree with Groucho about joining this club! This particular SE has pretty much plagued me from the start.

Strange about the hangovers. Sometimes I don't get them at all and other times it hurts too much.

Sounds like brewer's droop is not affecting you but that coitus absentis feriatus is the real problem. Just keep plugging away and I'm sure it will all come out in the end.

              EDIT:
Perhaps "coitus absentus vacation" is a better name for the affliction which google translates as "missing vacation rut".

                Baclofen wears off

Hi Bleep -I've read a few of your recent posts -glad to see you are giving BAC -and taking another shot at it. I still have the occasional wonder if a drink or two could make me "feel" just a little bit better even though I'm feeling better than I ever have. What the hell am I'm I thinking or am I? You, along with some other posters, are beginning to convince me that maybe a controlled- experimental- run with alcohol in NOT such a great idea.. Especially this early on (and maybe forever). I have to ask myself, just exactly what am REALLY trying to achieve if I do drink again? My only answer to this, I think (assuming I'm not bullshitting myself) is this: I remember the only zone I could feel safe-comfortable in was the drinking zone. It was the one area of life that I knew what I was going to become and live in. It was familiar. My routine would begin as catch a little buzz, feel great about stuff that was not so great, my nads would grow to 3 times their actual size and courage would set in, My creativity would set in -in a great way, I would have some great ideas, and then, well, make a few stupid ass calls, drink some more, and some more, I apologize for writing too much on your thread but I sure would like to get your feedback and thoughts. Bleep, thanks for showing up.

And Bleep, one last comment, I'm finally reaching a point that I can mentally spend time reading other member threads, so I apologize if you have already commented on my questions in other posts.

Also, regarding the "oh-hell-no-this can't be-happening" side effect, which is still happening with me -the NOT FINISHING SE. After finally convincing my wife that it was not her fault, I dived into more research. The formal name is "Delayed Ejactulation" This occurs in approximate 8 percent of men. I've been accused of secretly taking Viagra, no kidding, so there is no problem in that area. This delayed situation, in my opinion, is a direct result of Baclofen and "I've read" in Wikipedia, there are several methods one and his partner can try to resolve this damning situation. I'm just not ready to stop BAC-ing and or drinking to get there -maybe Wiki has some good ideas. I will repost this on sex SE thread.

                    Baclofen wears off

                    Hey Wolf,

When I originally took baclofen a few years ago, it was with the intention of moderating my drinking. That was something I had been trying and failing to do for several years previously. I took baclofen, and lo and behold, I was able to successfully moderate. I then stopped taking baclofen, partly as an experiment, and also because of experiencing anorgasmia. When I stopped, the anorgasmia went away, so it is without doubt a baclofen related SE. For several months after I stopped, I was able to drink moderately, until one day suddenly I wasn't, and began drinking like I drank pre-baclofen. I restarted baclofen, and today am able to moderate successfully.

Unfortunately, anorgasmia is back with it. I am in the middle of trying to fiddle around with my dose, to see if I can find a middle road, where the urge to drink myself senseless fades, but I am still able to orgasm. So far no luck, but it is early days yet, and I love experimenting.

I can see a life of being a non-drinker, but there are always the occasional few that I would really like, so if I am unable to find a balance, I will have to weigh up my options. I'll post my thoughts on this a bit later, when I have had a chance to stew on it a little.

Hey Bleep -I just read this post in response to mine. I better understand now where you are coming from. I sometimes wish I had the luxury of even considering alcohol -I do have some fond memories (most of which are probably false). But damn Bleep, I came too close to death with Firewater by my side. Maybe, for me, I am looking at Baclofen as a window of opportunity and one day it may really stop working???
Anyway, I am hanging in there at 220mg p/day (+20mg some days or minus 20mg others). And finally I have been able to reach the finish line as of late. Its still hit or miss, but at least I'm back hitting. My wife is totally confused and I am playing this part of it for all its worth -jk-lol-jk (in case she were to read this)

The problem isn't even that straightforward. Ejaculation will show the casual observer that we have fruition but I am still missing the instantaneous euphoria which is the real reason for the exercise. n.b. procreation is no more than a side-effect.

More fine tuning is needed - this could be a long, hard grind.

In a somewhat different context, wouldn't this be the goal?

I tend to have asked most of the casual observers to leave the room before I get to that point, but I know what you mean Colin.

Colin-Bleep - don't throw me out just yet. The mother of my three said several times that she thought I had reached the finish line -I just could not believe this -how could this happen without the fun for me. Well, after reading this, I know that she is right. I have had a couple of semi fun finishes, but nothing like before. It really does seem to be getting better now that I am not tiltrating either way.

For me, the only thing that improves it is to reduce my level. I then walk a fairly fine line though. I will notice myself slightly more eager to hit the pub, or continue drinking, and then I have to go back up. Unfortunately the line between indifference and a good shag seem to be drawn in exactly the same place, which is probably not coincidental at all.
