    Baclofen 'old timer' still struggling.

Thanks for clearing that up. Annoying thing deletions, 'specially now that my interest has been peaked!

On 100mg and haven't had a drink for 4 nights. Something of a 6 month record! Also feeling less inundated with stuff I can't deal with!!
Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

Right, thanks for the info. Should have a look around I guess ..........

Read the first couple of pages. What can I say? Over compensating twerp. Don't think I need to read the rest!

I actually do have a serious problem. Just spent 3 nights in Bangkok and the most exciting thing I found was watching BBC world service.

        And its not a recommendation!

Perhaps the fault lies with Bangkok? I mean, it's not really known as a place to go mad in, is it? Hard to let your hair down and hang loose in such an intimate village culture. Try a big city where you can be anonymous.

Sorry to make light Ig. I just don't have anything helpful to add. I know you don't like taking 'drugs', but perhaps the time has come to see a decent therapist and get on something? Difficult where you are, I know, but needs must?

Reminds me of that song, "One night in Bangkok, will make a hard man soft"

I distrust the medical profession, big pharma, agribusiness, my dog, well... most everything. Ha.

But I have a cunning plan. I have a meeting scheduled tomorrow with the owner of the lab that did the tests and am hoping to use their incompetence as leverage to get some some well considered advice and referrals.

Had a couple of beers last night which weren't particularly enjoyable. Could have gone without but testing the limits of my desire. Feel a little depressed this morning which I think is probably due to me castigating myself for the slip. So unnecessary. Real life without crutches or smoke screens is still foreign and unknown territory for me.

If I was trying to stay away from booze, drugs and ladies of the night. Bangkok is the last place I'd want to be frequenting

Hey Ig, sorry I haven't kept up as much as I should. Hope your plan works. Shouldn't be too tough to pull off: no shortage of incompetence in the medical industry...

Out of the 3 vices you mention John, I particularly interested to get the 3rd one back! FTR it's a fact that the best looking gal a newbie sees in Patpong is invariably a katoi. It might be different if one wasn't so drunk!

Well I had my meeting with the lab boss. It turns out that my incredibly low testosterone level is due to a typo! I guess I'm "a glass half empty" guy because I was not so elated at the news. Although I have the hormones of Gengis Khan I still cannot get into having sex. I had planned on a mercury detox but that seems fairly irrelevant now - maybe I will still do it - shame to waste the research - probably can't do me any harm!

Actually the Doc was very nice and we spent a couple of hours talking about the tribulations of rearing kids and the benefits of meditation.

Haven't had a drink for the last couple of nights. Surprisingly easy now that I've taken the pressure of myself to be "switched"!

Good luck with the AF time Stuck.

                    Hey, ignominious,

I've been meaning to comment on your mercury detox idea. IMO it would be best if you had a hair sample tested. I do this in my work so I have some experience. You may have mercury in your cells and organs, but you may have other metals that need to be moved out first. So it may be silly to jump to a mercury detox. I don't think it'd hurt you. It just wouldn't give the best results.

I had a ton of fillings but when my hair was tested the results showed I was full of copper. Mercury didn't even show until the second test 3 months later. I used specific supplements and the worked. I had live blood cell analysis done and I could see the metals in my blood.

I use a company called ARL in the states. I don't know what would be available to you. Good luck.

                      That's great to hear Gengis!

I am curious as to how you go about a mercury detox. I have never knowingly ingested mercury, at least that I can remember. I should just Google it, I suppose.

Late reply, a bit busy lately with work and the internet connection has been abominable.

Hi Kroncarr, Thanks for the suggestion. Trouble is, that I'm interested in the amount of mercury that may have accumulated in my brain. The hair sample only shows what mercury was floating around in your blood when that piece of hair was growing. It will show high levels if you have been exposed recently to mercury otherwise it may show nothing. It can be used to look at other minerals that you have high or low amounts of which can point to mercury suppressing or increasing their production. Quite inaccurate and complicated.

                        I previously wrote:

A little further research proves this to be wrong or at least the experts are divided on this point.

Basic Mercury detox involves getting the mercury shifted from its resting place and then getting it to bond with something (chelating agent) that can be excreted.

When mercury gets moved from its home of long standing (5years, 50 years) it will bind to something else, hopefully your chelating agent of choice (maybe DMSA or cliantro). These 2 agents can get across the BBB. The problem lies in that there is a chance that with so much mercury swishing around that it may bind to a new site on your brain that may be much worse for you!

                        1) Take a thorough detox of your body for a few months to clear as much mercury from your body as possible and tone up your elimination routines. Lots of antioxidants.

                        2) Only after there are plenty of new binding sites available in your body and your body is ready to get rid of all rubbish quickly should you then take something that will cross the BBB.

3)Take the DMSA or cilantro very regularly for 3 days and then rest your body for 3 days. Continue for about one month.

                        Bleep only detox:

                        4) Ignore 1,2 and 3. Just take as much DMSA as you can handle without loosing consciousness and eat a lot of green veg. Chances are you'll be alright.

                          Thanks for the explanation Ig.

Your personalised detox plan for me scares the crap out of me. Green veg are revolting things, I don't think I could handle it. Except fresh peas obviously.

Good luck on your detox. I do disagree with you about the hair sample and what it measures but it sounds like you know where you're going. Again, good luck!

Hi Kronkcarr. I haven't looked into this very carefully but that was what I could ascertain from a few hours searching. Ready to be enlightened.

I'm not going to do it anymore, one of the reasons being that I still have a mouth full of amalgam fillings and I could easily be adding more mercury to my body.

I'm on a dose of 90mg atm. Generally happy not to drink but still looking for something to make me complete. Drank my fill on Friday but not much fun. Keep trying to use some will power but as we all know that's not how it works.

If only I could swap addictions and become a healthy and fit sex addict, things would be good!

                                Evening, Ig.

Now that there's a slight sliver of openness at the border, hardly a day goes by when your adopted country isn't in the news for something or other. This morning an article (on the radio) about the fact that Coca-Cola has returned to compete with the local Max-Cola (?) after abandoning their pursuit of market-domination-for-sugar-addiction a decade or so ago.

They interviewed a half-dozen people or so, and I kept waiting to hear your voice! That would be fun.

Hope you're well and can resist the lure of McDonalds when it arrives. (And Starbucks, though that one is nigh impossible. And especially Walmart. Tho it's probably already there in some evil form or other.)
