New to this, curious about low dose Baclofen effect
Greetings all. I'm new to this Baclofen thing and have a question. I've been taking 5mg 2x day to get started. I've already noticed a huge decrease in craving. I've also been really tired. Based on other stories I read, this is a really low dose for both intended and side effects. Have others had success with such a low dose?
Thanks!Tags: None

New to this, curious about low dose Baclofen effect
Hey there and :welcome:
The weird thing is that bac is so specific to each individual person that you can't ever really tell. ReadThread12 found relief from her alcoholism from the very first 30mgs she took, and now has found a comfortable place around 120 (I think).
It's more about being comfortable and feeling "right" than anything. So think about going up a little bit or whatever. The SEs aren't necessarily "worse" at higher doses, so the sleepiness won't automatically get worse if you go up. I know, it's really counterintuitive. But it's the case. And you might be surprised at how good, calm, and confident you can feel. It just depends.
I've been to 240, and down to 0, and right now only at 20 and let me tell you I feel like shit and weird. And drinking to push through feeling weird. So you just never know. I'm also on a weekend trip to Las Vegas right now, so there's that :H.

Hey, Beast,
I got my bac at night and with 20 mgs my mind calmed noticeably. I never over drank once I started bac. I did go up to 80 mgs and was there for 6 weeks due to my dr not letting me go higher. Once during that time I wanted to buy a bottle of wine and drink it SO badly, but I didn't. After that I've had a drank or two with friends every two of three weeks. I don't keep count because I'm no longer obsessed with alcohol.
Side effects? They have been unpredictable for me. I did have the sleepiness and, at times, I had insomnia. I gave up concerning myself with my sleep. I just go with it however it is. When I started to titrate down (as happened when I went up) I had all kinds of SEs: anxiety, irritability, mood changes and happiness like I had in the beginning. I've decided that I like how I feel at 60-70 mgs, so that's where I'm staying for now. The SEs really are different for each of us. Some gained weight. I lost 10 pounds and really had to make myself eat because no foods appealed to me. I still don't like many foods I liked before.
I've seen bleep say it a few times: Pay attention to how YOU feel and find your way based on that. Good luck.
