My GPs usual response is "don't drink so much" with a slight smirk. I know this the the right answer but I suppose its just not as easy as that or this board wouldn't have any use. It does sort of keep me in line as pain of any kind is never a good sign even if your results's are good. Other wise I probably just drink more.

Liver area pain
Before we start I'd just like to say I get the usual tests done every 6 months with the results coming back fine. But I still always get that pain (sort of like a stitch in your side) after a few days heavy drinking. Was just wondering if anyone else gets this? Its not constant 24h pain just for a day or two after a heavy session. Always has been that way I suppose. When TSM was working and my units were down it went away totally.

Milk Thistle, dude. And "studies have shown" (I wish I could cite them and give you links, but really, there have been studies) that heavy drinkers who are also heavy coffee drinkers have fewer liver problems than those who don't drink lots of coffee.
And yeah, "don't drink so much" (I say with a slight smirk).

Liver area pain
Have you ever had those tests done just after a drinking day/when you had the pain, or do you usually take a few days off from drinking beforehand?
I have read that the liver has no nerve endings, and the pain isn't the liver itself but the liver becoming enlarged and pushing against surrounding tissue. I'm no doctor but it makes sense. So I'm just curious if you have had the tests run when your liver may have been enlarged or if by the time you've had the tests it was 'back to normal'.
Just as an FYI, I get the same pain after a night of drinking and it also goes away after a day or two...I'm guessing that whatever it is, it isn't a good sign!

Oh and just FYI, I'm not a doctor either, but I have had medical training. I don't know anything about the liver nerve endings thing, but if your liver is actually hurting, you'll feel it in your back, right between your shoulder blades. It's called "referred pain", and that's where the liver refers pain, for whatever reason.
