Please help me to sleep. PLEASE!!!

    Ifuluv,

Yep, sounds like Seroquel is not a hit for you.

I am not sure about the Mirtizapine as have never done it.

Can you talk with a doctor? I know that Lunesta and a new sleep aid are supposed to help with the "I can fall asleep, just not stay asleep" issue. Bear in mind, all those sleep aids have potential abuse issues but if you use them properly?

Keep trying until you find a help.

    Sorry the Seroquel didn't work.

Or, the devil's advocate said, try 50 mg. next time you can clear the board and don't have to get up for work. The morning-after groggy does subside. And yes, I know it doesn't fit for some, just like baclofen. But I humbly suggest one more trial, under different conditions. And, of course, whatever else you can get your hands on that works>

        Hey Iful-

How is the seroquel working out? Are you getting any sleep? I meant to post this before, but forgot. Hope you don't hate Colin Hay...

BTW- this is from a TV show in the States that I used to watch a lot when I was doing shift work.

Please help me to sleep. PLEASE!!!

My sleep has improved somewhat. I've been dosing with zinc and magnesium as well as occasional Benadryl/Unisom and (WARNING, CRAZY HIPPIE SHIT AHEAD) rebalancing disturbances in my meridian system. Consequently, I have been getting probably 6 hours sleep a night, which is certainly better than before but still not as much as I really think I need. So, taking Redthread's suggestion that I try again with Seroquel, and always happy to experiment with drugs I gave it another go. Fun with pharmaceuticals eh kids?

I tend to work 7 days a week and usually get up pretty early, so finding an opportunity to give Seroquel a fair chance wasn't easy but one arose last weekend so I took 25mg. I slept brilliantly: 8 hours of slumber and I awoke calm and refreshed like I haven't for months. Building on that success, I took 37.5mg last night and slept the sleep of the just. I have no idea how long I slept for but I think it was probably about 10 hours. Today I feel great, a little spacey maybe but that's not exactly a terrible thing.:nutso:

Two other things I believe have generally improved my sleep recently are that I have lowered slightly my baclofen dose and the fact that I am in the process of stopping smoking, so when I wake up in the middle of the night I don't get up and have a fag and therefore fall asleep again quicker.

            Happy days, kiddies. Happy days!

              ifulovelife,

Very glad to hear you are doing better.

Please go to your doctor to get a script for Seroquel. It is a serious medication and can wreak havoc on some people's blood pressure.

I am a firm believer in having your meds prescribed by a doctor so they are aware of all your meds and can make correct decisions for your best health.

If he/she tries to prescribe Ambien or Lunesta, explain that you cannot take anything that has potential for abuse. The last time I was in rehab, there were several people there trying to get off of those meds. They were having a horrible time trying to stop them because they were unable to sleep at all.

Seroquel and Trazadone, most often prescribed here in the USA in rehabs for sleep, do not have quite the potential for abuse.

I am happy to hear you have been able to get better rest.

I still sleep about 6 hours a night but it is all through the night unless a potty break is required. I don't have to take anything at all anymore. Almost 90 days sober. :-)

I do take my Magnesium, Calcium, D3 and a 3 mg Melatonin while I am in bed and getting ready to doze off.

It is nice to wake up rather than come to these days.

I was having terrible trouble regarding sleep the last few nights after stopping cinnarizine. I was so tired yesterday that the whole day was just a blur. I was nodding off al day (partly due to baclofen) and made it to about 8pm and couldn't hack it any longer. I could barely stand up. I climbed into bed and can't remember even falling a sleep. I woke up at 7 this morning. The first unbroken sleep I've had in well over a year I'd guess.

I think my body really just had enough and I conked out like never before.

I never had any luck with Benadyl or any antihistamines due to RLS but I've heard about people taking too much and behaving badly I've taken zolpidem before without being in bed (you wouldn't believe that story). I'd a friend who was running about the street in his underwear shouting he needed the fire brigade. He feel out of his attic and had to be locked in his bedroom for his own safely

Cindy, Cindy, Cindy, I live in the UK! It's really not that simple to get what you need on the NHS. Plus my local health authority has decided that all problems can be best treated by CBT, "so you don't sleep well?" "you want to give up smoking?" "you think you need heart bypass surgery?", "no problem just pop down and have a 12 week CBT course and all will be well!" Mutha fuggas!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you're doing so well though Cinders. Wake up rather than come to! Lol, yeah, nicely put!!!! :H

Not making light of your issues bcp, but you have opened a new avenue for Iful to explore, for which we are grateful.

I took Otter's suggestion a few weeks back. Took additional Baclofen right before bed and I ate some additional carbs. I've cut the carbs out now -eat some fruit, but I sleep intensely. 20 mg of BAC befor bed has changed my sleep world. The minor SE occurs in the am as I try to wake up. I want to wake up raring to go- it ain't happening. Gets much better within the hour and I now take BAC immediately upon waking. I almost miss only sleeping 3 or 4 hours -except for the physical/mental exhaustion that occurs later in the day.

When I had the flu last week, my wife bought me some NyQuil for my sore throat.
Man, I slept like a baby in no time.

I saw on TV that they also have a new product, ZzzQuil, especially for temporary insomnia.

Have you already tried one ofe those?
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Spitwolf: glad it works for you.

Bleep: I may be menopausal. I'm fairly scatter-brained and forgetful, I seem to suffer from PMS A LOT and my periods are most definitely not regular.

Xadrian: the active ingredient in Zzzzzzzzzzquil (enough Zs?) is diphenhydramine, the same thing in Benadryl. Which was great the first few times I took it, just like Doxylamine (Unisom) but the problem with the first generation sedating antihistamines is tolerance. In my case the tolerance lasts........well, kinda forever. It is never as good as the time before and it really doesn't matter how long I leave between doses: days, or even several weeks. It will never be as good as the first time...rather like sex with sheep. Hey, don't judge me, I'm Welsh!

                                no sleep etc

Hi, I've been taking bac for about 14 weeks getting up to 190 at which point the side effects were unbearable so I had to get back down. Mostly I decreased 10mg a day. I'm usually not affected by SE's ....am very disappointed. I took my last 20 mg 2days ago and didn't bother with the last 10mg yesterday
Mistake! I have not slept at all the last 2 nights, am trembling, feel like crap, jerky motions, mild hallucinations, ... I don't know if I should start back 10mg for a week or so?
I'm 65 so maybe that's why the SE's affected me so much .Fortunately I am retired so I can just stay home and take care of myself.
If anyone has an opinion as to how long these withdrawal symptoms might last or if I should get back on the 10mg, I would appreciate input.
Lying in bed in the dark with no sleep is the pits. Eyes too tired to read or compute so tonight I'm going to plan on movies.
                                Thanks, Meggie
