Please help me to sleep. PLEASE!!!

      Thanks for the info, everyone.

I can't believe I forgot to actually search the issue on MWO before I started this thread. If I'd done so I would have found RedThread's posts about Seroquel. D'Oh!!! I think I'll give that a go...just as soon as I can afford to buy some that is :upset:

Jon Doe: a return email is on the way to you.

Lo0p: wake me up in the middle of the night and I'll do the same to you. Oh wait! You never actually sleep though, do you? :H

Gratitude: Sorry, but all my artwork now comes combined with my baby-gravy. Take it or leave it!!!!!

Everyone: ta very much. I love you all :l

In spurts much like yourself. I don't cry about it much though. :upset:

You'd have to be downright nasty though, for some reason talking to you generally puts me in a good mood.

A string of UK insults back to back is likely to make me crack up, get up and get an hour or two's worth of work done. It'd have to be carefully planned and sadistic. You're a creative guy. I'm sure you could make it happen.

That being said, regarding our correspondence yesterday: if I don't get that thread I asked for, we stole hard copies of your pieces. And I, along with China, never signed any patent agreement with and foreign people, countries or museums.

I was hoping I wasn't going to have to draw attention to my direct theft. And my new avatar.

btw, I hope that if you're talking about creating art with anyone on any venue outside of this one, that it comes with all of the maturity you (both) can muster. Or at the very least, it's own little space, labelled appropriately. 'cause while it is funny, and all of that stuff, a whole lot of Mx's stuff descends into tasteless, and then into crude, and then into obscenity. I won't draw the distinction simply because it's different for all of us.

          Ya know?

Hope you can get some sleep soon, ifull

I take serequel, its also more commonly called Quetiapine in the uk I get it on a script from my pdoc for bipolar. Do you know its actiually an antipsychotic tho IYLL so I think it must obviously mess around with brain chemisry for it to work, I only take a small dose anyway but after a while it has stopped knocking me out for the night and I have started getting disturbed sleep so I think the sedative effect has worn off, I wouldnt be prepared to increase my dose tho for sleep to get it back as the weight gain se's and feeling crap the next morning would just get worse with the increase I reackon.

Having taken both mirtazapine and serequel I really do think mirtazapine is the best one and the effect it had on sleep never wore off, but then as we know meds effect each of us differently. The other thing is if I was buying a med online without a doctors recommendation for me the name antipsychotic would put me off, it kind of cunjures up all kinds of psychiatric inpatient pictures in my head, Ive watched to many films maybe :eeks:

I hear ya Bebe and I definitely do take your advice on board. BTW, I would be less worried about buying something called an 'antipsychotic' than I would a 'propsychotic':H

Lo0p, I'm not sure about that thread. Neva doesn't appreciate the full spectrum of my work and I've always considered her to be Ms Everywoman: the most average and typical person. So, if she doesn't like it, then I guess most people won't. I think the world may not yet be ready for my artworks...plus, now I'm combining my drawings with man-goo I'm having a helluva time trying to scan them!

You didn't have to draw my attention to it, or that of my lawyers. See you in court!

BTW, I may have to start a thread entitled "Please help me to wake up. PLEASE!!!", after the day I've had today. I just want to sleep all day. I've never been so exhausted. I've take caffeine, ephedrine and amphetamines and they barely managed to keep my eyes open. The thing is, I know when I do finally give in and go to sleep, I will be awake an hour later. :upset:

Oh. My. God. All the flak and the mudslinging and the troll-shit I've put up with (been a party to) in the last 3 years and the worst insult...EVA...from my own people. Bite me.
I won't even pretend that I appreciate the full spectrum. But I actually think it has less to do with my American-Woman-prudishness than my inability to find something stupid funny. I can't watch tv for the same reason.

Will provide the gift of a solid 8 hours. Is non addictive...I take it when only edgy and in need of a good sleep. And as a special bonus for you IFUL wont cause any problems with the current state or size of your knob. Its a win win.
Good to know, Reggie. Thanks for that. A friend is going to send me a couple of her Seroquels for me to try before I buy, as it were.

Having known Reggie a long time, I find it prudent to always quote his posts because they have a tendency to suddenly disappear Almost as often as Neva's Neva, there was no need for you to delete your post. You said nothing wrong. It was OK to publicly admit you wanted one of my new drawings with added baby-batter.

Please help me to sleep. PLEASE!!!

                        ifuluv (or some such abbreviation..)

On a very serious note about this issue I would like to weigh in. I am a significantly overweight woman, so please take that into account.

                        1. My dad and I both have suffered with the inability to sleep a full eight hours at night. Sometimes I fall asleep early and then am up at Oh dark hundred banging around in the dark trying not to wake the hubby. Or, I simply cannot drift off and I lie there awake until about the time I would normally wake up 2 or 3 a.m. and then give up and get up. This has been my entire life. My dad said he would just lay in bed with his eyes closed assuming that at least giving the body a rest was beneficial. There must be some genetic/chemical component that affects people's sleep patterns.

                        2. Sleep apnea does not necessarily present with snoring, etc. If you have lost significant weight, you may not be making the same noises as before but you may still have sleep apnea. My husband has to use a cpap machine in order to get true rest. In looking back, it is amazing how tired he was all the time compared to after the cpap. Sleep apnea affects your blood oxygen level, not just in the evenings but throughout the day as your body cannot recover from the lack of oxygen from sleeping. Sleep apnea is not a silly issue. It seems so on the outside but having watched someone's life become transformed by using the cpap machine, I recommend you get checked for sleep apnea.

I use Seroquel 50 mg prn if I am getting desperate for sleep. In the last two months since getting and staying sober, I have used it once or twice, only. I do not like the morning fog that requires multiple cups of coffee to dispel. But, desperate times do call for desperate measures.

As to whether we need eight hours uninterrupted or several naps, etc, I think that is a moot point. If you are not feeling well due to lack of sleep, you are simply not getting enough sleep.

Please talk to your doctor about this. Have them check for apnea, see what they suggest about possible meds, etc. I know well the feeling of constant exhaustion and have learned to sleep when I can but once I start working again, that won't be an option. It is a frustrating issue.

                        Take care,
                        Cindi

Hi Cindi. Thanks for that. The thing about sleep apnea and exhaustion the next day is that it isn't obvious to the sufferer why they should be so tired when they believe themselves to have had a long sleep. That's how it was for me back in the day when I was overweight and suffered from it. These days I'm not sleeping, suffocating, half waking, falling asleep again only to repeat the whole process over dozens of times per night. I fall asleep for a few hours and then either fully wake or doze. It's not the same. It's not apnea. It's insomnia caused by a necassary medication.

I just remembered another med which can be used in low doses for sleep is Amytriptyline, I have had them but didnt bother taking them as I was still drinking at the time. But, I didnt know that this insomnia is caused by meds. It may be harder to sort asy you are not just sorting a sleep problem itself are you. Is it possible to sort out the med itself.
some meds are simply just not suited for some people.

I was taking Tramadol for a while and it really did bad things to my sleep, I was not just having difficulty sleeping but started having these horrible half awke/half asleep things and would be having bad dreams and wake up but still be dreaming if that makes any sense. I also woke up sure there was someone in my room and was terrefied to move, but for lots of other people Tramadol is great, it relieves there pain plus it help them have a good nights sleep, sometimes as you know it takes a while to find the med that works for you, just because it has been great for someone else doesnt mean it will help you. Zopiclone also doent help me sleep, I get to sleep ok but I will be awake after about two hours and doing the dozing, waking thing for the rest of the night.

                              Iful-

If you had sleep apnea before you probably know this already, but there are two types. One where your airway is physically obstructed by loose tissue etc. and another where your brain actually stops telling you to breathe for short periods. I think Cinders was referring to the latter.

I hope you get this figured out. It would be hard for me to function without a solid six or seven hours of sleep.

Juan: Apnea wouldn't awake me up and keep me awake for half the night.

                                It's insomnia!!!!!!!!!

Bebe: yep, meds related. Baclofen. Bac, I love it and hate it. I hate it because it utterly fucks with my sleep and always has since I started using it over 2 years ago. Less now than then...but still. But I love it because it stops my liver from engorging to such a size it actually has its own gravitational pull.

I don't like the sound of amitryptiline. Apparently it causes the usual sexual problems you get with newer ADs. That's always the case with anything that increases serotonin or serotonin reuptake. And I just can not stand anymore anorgasmia/anejaculation (aka blue-balls) :upset:
