spacebebe01;1506919 wrote: I just remembered another med which can be used in low doses for sleep is Amytriptyline, I have had them but didnt bother taking them as I was still drinking at the time. But, I didnt know that this insomnia is caused by meds. It may be harder to sort asy you are not just sorting a sleep problem itself are you. Is it possible to sort out the med itself.
some meds are simply just not suited for some people.
I was taking Tramadol for a while and it really did bad things to my sleep, I was not just having difficulty sleeping but started having these horrible half awke/half asleep things and would be having bad dreams and wake up but still be dreaming if that makes any sense. I also woke up sure there was someone in my room and was terrefied to move, but for lots of other people Tramadol is great, it relieves there pain plus it help them have a good nights sleep, sometimes as you know it takes a while to find the med that works for you, just because it has been great for someone else doesnt mean it will help you. Zopiclone also doent help me sleep, I get to sleep ok but I will be awake after about two hours and doing the dozing, waking thing for the rest of the night.
Just be aware and be careful with it.I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years

Maybe its the effect it had on me but I had no fun with Tramadol whatsoever. However I now have the choice of opiate painmeds and potential addiction or spendingmy life in bed in agony so I know which one I choose. I wasnt recommending anyone else try tramadol I was using it as an example.

Oh no, antipsychotic for sleep...the jail insomnia treatment!!!
seroquel...? been there than that...OK for sleep...experienced early signs of tardive diskinesia...was lucky that was reversible.
If you wanna do antipsychotics for sleep and risk TD than you might don't need baclofen afterall...
Saphris works much better for sleep than Seroquel IMO and you won't experience much pleasure of AL...kinda like drinking after Naltrexone!!!
PS, I don' do jails anymore and therefore don't do meds I don't like...especially antipsychotics for sleep

I haven't been to jail but Trazodone and Seroquel are often used in rehab for sleep issues because they have little chance for abuse.
Saphris probably falls into the same category.
btw, ifuluv, Trazadone (sp?) helped me fall asleep but did not help me stay asleep. That is how I ended up on Seroquel.

btw, Ironically, ifuluv, hubby had surgery today. I came home early because he was on morphine, his cpap and just wanted to be left alone.
I fell asleep around 9:00, he called at 10:00 to tell me how great he was feeling and the pain was getting much better.
Now I can't get back to sleep. :H:H
I am hoping I can do without the Seroquel but if I have to take one to fall back asleep, I guess I will.
Sigh.

Anyway, I will find out tonight because one of my MWO friends sent me some and it arrived today. I'll start on 25mg and see what happens.
I want to thank you all for all the information and the thoughtful replies. I especially want to thank those who contacted me by PM and email to give their support and offered to send me Seroquel and other meds. I really am so lucky to know you all. I love you guys!:l"My fault, my failure, is not in the passions I have, but in my lack of control of them." Jack Kerouac

But no love for the guy who calls you in the middle of the night just to make sure you are getting a good night's sleep, eh?
We'll see what happens next time I "care".:nutso: I take pride in my humility :nutso:

spacebebe01;1508377 wrote: How are you sleeping now iyll, any better? what happened when you took the serequel
Hmmmmm, well.....
I took 25mg Saturday night. I slept about 4 hours then I just alternated waking and lightly dozing. When I got up for work on Sunday I felt like I could fall asleep at any moment. I had to cut my work short and get home. I took some ephedrine to try and wake myself up. That got my body moving but I was like a zombie all day long. When the ephedrine wore off I was utterly exhausted and ended up going to bed at 7.30pm.
Not wanting the same thing to happen the next day, I decided I would try half a tab. I slept for 2 hours then dozed for about 3 more. I ended up getting up at 3am because I was wide awake. I woke with a crick in my neck which got steadily worse throughout Monday and again I ended up cutting my workday short. By the end of yesterday my neck was so painful I couldn't move my head at all.
Last night I took 25mg again. I slept for 2 hours, then dozed, waking and lightly sleeping for 4 more hours until my alarm went off ... and then I slept properly for another 1.5 hours, therefore f**king up yet another workday!
I couldn't get comfortable at all during the night because of my neck. Plus my nose was completely blocked, as it has been each night I've used Seroquel. I note that both sinus inflammation and neck pain are SEs of Seroquel.
I had a very disturbing dream, which once I awoke I couldn't shift. It seemed so real, it took me a long time to rationalise that what happened wasn't true (which I only partially managed) and each time I fell back to sleep, the dream returned and so did my belief it was real. Even now I remember the dream in every detail, and even though I know it was only a dream, it seems so real and its unpleasant message the truth. Sheeeeit! Maybe this anti-psychotic actually works as a pro-psychotic on me afterall. :H
I don't think I will be using Seroquel again. It clearly doesn't suit me. :upset:

I'm starting to have sleep problems now that I've titrated up to a highish dose. I went to bed at around 11pm last night and woke an hour later. Its either shortness of breath or that jumping heart feeling. Or a mixer of the two. Either way its becoming a bit of a problem. I'm getting probably at most 4 hours of broken sleep the last 3-4 nights. My only real SE I'm finding it hard.
I had benzo's at hand but I just couldn't be arsed. I flushed them first thing this morning. Too much GABA agonist's for me to function.
Mirtazapine looks like a possibility. I can get hold of them easy enough. I never liked the idea of Serequel tbh. I tried it once and just didn't feel right for a few days after. Antipsychotic's just sit right with me off label.
