    Alcohol and autism linked!

As some have picked up, baclofen is being used and developed into a new drug to treat autism.

It appears there may be a link between autism and alcoholism: Alcoholism Linked to Autism GeneFYI Living

Of course, a lot of autistics drink. Some might say that is psychological but this article suggest a common neurological cause. One way of looking at it is that both are just products of the same disorder of the "anxiety" center of the brain. I wonder how many people would benefit by going to their doctor and discussing symptoms which led to their drinking and pointing out that, perhaps, they suffered from mild autistic symptoms and that there is a treatment for it??

It might be a better way forward because autism is more acceptable, less of an insurance problem and easier for doctors to swallow because it doesn't have the pejorative connotations of alcoholism or the dogma of morality surrounding it.

I note Tex has posted this article before but felt it might be useful to highlight it for discussion purposes as it might lead some to get some help from a doctor.
