    Can anyone help? Baclofen

I think some of it on the phone is because I can't see the person so I can't tell how they're responding. Plus most calls I make are those where I have to sit on hold forever and need their help and most of the time they don't listen or make sense to me. Those calls I absolutely hate!

With bac nothing much bothers me anymore and I had 2 of those hated calls this week, and they were ok.

      Yo, littlebluebird, awesome screen name.

Looks like everyone's helped you out already, but none of the newbies know how to link threads, apparently. :H

      https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...sen-41531.html

First call: call him at home between 7 - 9 PM central standard time. He'll just set you up with a time to call his office during the day.

Second call: he won't remember that you'd called him at home. It's weird, and you'll want to tell him your whole life story and he won't want to hear it, and eventually it'll be like "what would you like me to do right now that will help you?"

Whatever, all you have to do is say you'd like a prescription for bac. He's also weird in that he will prescribe you a number of pills for 30 days--NOT a daily dose. This gets confusing because there's math involved, and it drives pharmacies nuts. But just hang in there.

So figure out how many pills you need for 30 days. 10 or 20mg pills is up to you, but you have to make it clear to Dr L which, or else you might end up with 1/2 of what you need. It's also not a bad idea to ask for more than you need.

He will charge you for the phone call, probably around $130--and he'll tell you about how to get your insurance to reimburse it but I've never even bothered to try. At the pharmacy make sure they will fill the script as TAKE AS DIRECTED. I got fucked the first time because they filled it as 60mg/day, and then the insurance nightmare and couldn't get refills. So just don't leave the pharmacy until they fill it the way Dr L wrote it out.

Everyone's nervous about calling him the first time. I was shaking. But the cool thing is that if you make a total blubbering-ass of yourself on the phone, he won't remember it--or you--the next time you call.

He's strange, and quite possibly insane, but he will give you a script with almost no questions asked. Just let him do most of the talking--and when it comes to the switch dose, when you get there, listen to us NOT him. Feel free to ask me about that when the time comes... I guess don't worry about it yet.

Stuck, thanks for posting the Dr. L info for LBB... I suspect a Dr. L call is in my near future as well since my MD is unsure about prescribing bac above 80 mg/day.

LBB... you might also search the forums for "Walgreens online" or some such- one of the old-timers (can't remember who) has written multiple times that it's easier to get your bac filled through Walgreens online system than it is other places...

          Lol Stuck.

Not the way I would've put it, but you pretty much nailed it.

LBB, if you're still around, please just call him. He is super nice, and so incredibly gentle, because despite all of the things (accurate tho they may be) that Stuck wrote, he's just a good guy doing what he thinks is the right thing.

I bawled like a baby the first time I called. I also asked him, point blank, why he would do such a thing...Help alcoholics he's never met. He said it was because he can and it's the right thing to do. Then he went on and on (and on and on) about malicious insurance companies and the horrible treatment alcoholics suffer. So basically, he's on our side. Which makes him almost a super-hero in my book. I wouldn't actually be surprised if he wore a cape. To bed. And a night-cap. (The kind that covers his head, not the kind you drink...)

That was me. But I'm not that old of a timer!!! Anyway, yeah, once you get the "as directed" script, you can refill online and have it shipped to your house basically whenever you want, if you feel like stocking up or whatever. And it goes straight through your insurance and is super convenient.
