@ Alky
I can't exactly remember what your name was on our forums but I'd know it if I saw it. And I went through all the registrations since early July and you are just not there! :question2:
Go ahead and re-register I guess. This hasn't happened before that I know of. :thanks:
edit: Nevermind, obviously you are registered if it's telling you you've got a bad password. Just email me your name and I'll take care of it.:nutso: I take pride in my humility :nutso:

I did a search for your email and you are, in fact, not registered. Bizarre glitch I think. Just re-register.
@ Federico
I'm going to shoot you an email
edit: I sent it to your myshining address. It's the one I have on file from when you registered back in May, 11 days after the forum came online. Hopefully that email address is still valid for you, if not just let me know.:nutso: I take pride in my humility :nutso:

Maybe they went to baclofenforalcoholism.com and not BaclofenForAlcoholism.comWhen you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.

Earlier this year Lo0p set up the baclofenforalcoholism forum for much the same reason and also to be a chat board. I also set up a wordpress site with a similar name because the uk site was on a host which I don't like and wordpress is better. I was then appointed as a moderator on Lo0p's site.
Recently my uk site was suspended because their systems seem to think it is a "phishing" site. I have had that before and they look into it and decide it isn't and then reopen it. But, the site hosts have annoyed me so I am not going to bother keeping it open as all the info on it is on Lo0ps site and on my wordpress, as well as here and on other sites like Phill's (eeek, horror) so I don't see the need for lots of different sites.
I haven't been active because we have moved to Cyprus and things are really great.
The UK NICE (National Instituted for Clinical Excellence) is going to publish guidelines on the use of Baclofen next November or so. They have decided to do it at the same time they look at Nalfamene. They compile and report "best evidence" for the use of off licence medications, so, I don't think there is much more that can be done in terms of getting the medical profession up to speed with this treatment, in terms of government involvement and since I don't live there anymore, my attitude towards the UK is, well, frankly, I don't give a...
The French doctors are publishing their prescribing guide in a peer reviewed journal next May, in English, so that may also help spread the word.
Here, in Cyprus you can get baclofen in any pharmacy with no prescription and you can walk into a new $500,000 university hospital and they will show you to a real live surgeon, or whatever you want, for which you pay about $50 for a medical procedure the same day. As opposed to getting raked over the coals and screwed over if you use or want to use bacloen in the UK and if you want to see a surgeon you have to wait a year.
So, it's a non issue here...which is why it is a bit quiet.BACLOFENISTA

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

I thought the UK is further advanced, since I found Bac in those guidelines (top document):
The British Association for Psychopharmacology | Documents | BAP Consensus Guidelines
Would you happen to know if they are only an expert body, or are their guidelines "binding" in any way?

I would be afraid to go into a $500,000 hospital. Is it between a pawn shop and a check cashing place?
I would assume (complete guess) a hospital here is at least 50 million. I suspect I am incredibly low on that number for a small hospital. When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.

I googled it. Small hospital building is 12 million and that's with no equipment at all. When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.

When I said that the UK isn't a nice place to get treatment I was referring to the fact that you have to get a referral from your doctor, which they don't have to do, since they are given budgets and have to pay for referrals to hospitals. Then, when you get a referral, you have to wait months to see someone and they may not want to do anything. I went in to an NHS hospital with a glass splinter which was deep inside my finger. They xrayed it, found it and then refused to do anything about it. When I moved to Cyprus I went in to a hospital and a nurse just got out a needle and got it out. That was five years after I first got it and I paid the equivalent of $20.
Added to that is the fact that UK hospitals are old and dirty: 710,000 patients a year infected on dirty NHS wards | Mail Online
Here's one, and in front is an open sewer which they refer to as the "Cut": http://s0.geograph.org.uk/photos/10/...3_72c1a686.jpg
Anyway, I have said this before, I am no admirer of the UK medial profession as they all get paid by the government, do their MD degrees straight from school...and I don't live there anymore.BACLOFENISTA
