    Bac is not paying my mortgage

    Bac is not working for me because I still have to pay my bills. Well duh. I see a lot of stuff on here that is like well I hit my switch and I'm not drinking but I still don't like going to work... Most people don't. I guess I get a little irritated by talk like that but I also realize how lucky I am. I believe I am having so much success with my bac life only because I have worked the 12 steps... All 12... Numerous times. I really don't have a lot of built up baggage. I already cleaned house. So now all is left for me is to enjoy my life and newfound freedom. Just because we take baclofen does not mean all of our problems are going to magically disappear. We still have to take an active part in bettering who we are. I think a path of selflessness and gratitude is an excellent choice. It makes me feel good about who I am. I know I joke a lot in here but that is really the path I try and take in my life and I learned it in AA. Let's be honest, baclofen is proven (by us) to remove the impulse to drink and/or drink excessively. That is what it is for. It is not for curing your life.... That is what you are for. I wish I could take a pill that will make me rich but they will never make one... Just like there will never be a pill that will make your life better. There is, however a pill that will remove the main thing that has been holding u down all of these years so u can finally have a fighting chance at repairing ur life.
    When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.

    Bit confused by your post. First you say bac is not working cause you have to pay your mortgage. Whats thats got to do with baclofen? We all have bills. Then you say you are having success with bac cos you worked the 12 steps in AA. Ahh guess its still early in the morning for this Irish woman:H

          Life is life. And, as we say here in the south, "It ain't for the feint of heart!"

          I'm thinking I would be better prepared for it if I HAD run away with the circus and learned to spin plates or juggle, rather than graduate university.

          So thanks for making the point, JD. On this ( and several others,) I kind of agree with Bill W. Although addiction is first and foremost a disease affecting neuro-chemical balance. fFor myself, it has had an element of spiritual malady, as well. And I'm definitely not referring to religion. My first "sober" I went to lots of AA meetings, People squirmed in their seats when I read from the Big Book, regularly replacing Him with Her. :H

          And in the end, as the Buddha pointed out in the First NoblevTruth: Life is Stressful. I was truly, deeply relieved to learn that that was true for someone besides myself.:H: Doing a "reset" of my expectations, accordingly, has been really helpful. And, even now, heading toward 4 years post-bac starting line, she is being pretty relentless. And fascinating. And challenging. Hard as hell and breath-takiingly amazing.

            Haaaaa. I was a big book thumper too!!! Nothing wrong with that. If ur gonna do AA, for god sake do it right. Don't be the guy in the corner that's forever in his first 30 days, still "working" on his 3rd step.... Dude get off ur ass and do ur inventory. I appreciate u writing Red. I was thinking maybe I shouldn't have said this. I see a lot of touchy feely stuff in here and I don't want to offend people. I've been given respect in my life for not holding things back, so I went with it. Some people hate it (hate me really) and some people understand what I mean. Glad u did. Now I like u
