    Insomnia

I know there has been a lot of mention of this and there are probably threads about it already. Can some people give me some things that have worked for them. Please refrain from prescriptions... I don't wanna start taking pill cocktails. It's getting bad. I keep thinking it is my increased dosage but I am not getting used to it. I went from 120 - 150. That is admittedly fast, but I have been here I think 2 weeks now and it is not getting any better. I wake up all night long. Then am tired all day. It is starting to affect my work. I really want to stay at this dose and push through it but am starting to feel I won't push through it.

1 benadryl got me through all but about 2 hours last night JD and you know how loopey I've been. About damned time. I wasn't wanting to take anything else either, but something had to slow the train wreck down a little.

I drink sleepytime tea and use hypnosis (via iPad).

Do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep?
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

I alternate between Benadryl (50mg, 75mg max) and an OTC sleep aid. Works pretty well. And actually haven't really taken much of either recently, though I did last night.

        Taking bac? Try reading. :H

But between bac and not drinking, it's no wonder you guys are having such a hard time getting a decent night's rest. It really does take about 2 months after quitting drinking for sleep to start regulating itself again. I think I'm almost there. Of course, then there's still the bac mucking things up.

Trouble staying asleep. It's easy to go to sleep the first time... Hell I can't stay up.

            Coricidin.

I took 2 tablets when I had the flu and couldn't stay awake at 3 PM. Slept for hours.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I take both gabapentin and mirtazepine for other reasons. The side effects are that I sleep very well.

JD-For me, I have just recently started sleeping most of the night. I started back cardio exercise three hours before bed, not eating three hours before bed, and have been at the BAC dose for two weeks now (220m). For three nights in a row, I have not woke one time. It's been kind of nice having to piss like a race horse when I now wake up. P.s.. I had taken ambien for about ten years up until last year and it finally was no longer working anyway. Good luck.

Try counting from 100 backwards and match it with your breath.

I used counting my breaths. I still do. Better than sheep. They remind me of Murphyx. (Long story.)

Benadryl is another one I use/d. I'm wary of supplements but others have used them with some success. I think the deal is that you can't take anything for too long and have to change them around. There are some threads about this, and you will want to check rather than take my word on it. I am in the minority in that I like the seal of Evil Big Government on what I take...

And I hate to say it, 'cause you're probably not going to like it, but regular exercise is a really, really good one. Not the whole "getting ripped in 30 days" thing. Just a brisk whatever will do.

Sleep is (I think) THE most important component of baclofen titration. I think it because I didn't sleep and I had a really shitty, lousy, awful, horrible titration. When it wasn't really amazingly beautiful and fantastic.

                      Hang in there.

                        Hey Siren,

Can you let us know what hypnosis you use from iTunes? Very interested in trying it out!

Right now, I am taking supplements to sleep and they work great-- Ive tried everything under the sun, or should I say moon and the best, by far, is Power to Sleep by Irwin Naturals. Look it up and give it a shot. Before I was sober, I was addicted to prescription sleeping pills and never thought I could ever get a good night's sleep without them. After a bad week of attempting warm milk, a banana, meditation, sleep teas, melatonin, exercise, these did the job. Been sleeping like a baby ever since.

                            Insomnia

JDizz- I've found full nights of sleep by taking melatonin (10mg pill instead of the usual 3mg) along with 2 tablespoons raw (unfiltered) honey- both taken 1 hour before intended bedtime.

Then, right before bed, 1 sleep aid (50 mg diphenhydramine, same thing as benadryl). That usually does me great. If I still have trouble, I'll add a second 50 mg diphenhydramine, though I don't like to do that cuz that seems like kind of a lot.

I'm hoping that this continues to provide me good sleep... if not, I'll be trying out other things such as the Power To Sleep mentioned by LostSoul (thanks for that, Lost!)

Give any/all of these a try and let us know if you find any relief. Good luck buddy.

The Benadryl worked as much as a steering wheel on a toaster. I'm gonna try and add some sleepy time tea to it tonight, but that tea did nothing for me back in the day.
