Of course a cardiologist can die of a heart attack. There is no absolute magic cure to prevent a heart attack or a fatal outcome from one.

Dr. Olivier Ameisen--Is it true?
@Bleep, I did say in my original post that it is certainly ironic.
@Treetops, I never said a cardiologist can't die from a heart attack, just that it seemed odd in my eyes and ironic.
@Ignominious, i have no idea if he had started drinking again or not.
I am sure his past drinking would probably have put a lot of strain on his body...
When I told my partner he asked if it could have perhaps have been the Baclofen?
I shrugged it off, as I was about to embark on this Bac adventure, and responded that: "at least he had 8 good years without drinking!".
But quietly I do wonder sometimes...

This isn't related since Dr A probably died suddenly, but i thought it was interesting non the less. It reminded me of Dr A when i was reading it

Keep in mind that alcoholics are much likelier to die of many things sooner, including heart problems. Dr. Amiesen's years of intensely heavy alcoholic drinking probably had much more to do with it than any other factor.
All that being said, and for the record, the man's a hero in my book.

Keep in mind that alcoholics are much likelier to die of one of many causes, heart disease being one of the top of the list. It's likely that Dr. A's many years of intensely alcoholic drinking was a major contributing factor, moreso than most other factors, I suspect.
All that being said, and just for the record, the man's a hero in my book (not that anyone's said otherwise, just thought I'd state so).

I can relate to where you're coming from ITAH.
I'm pretty confident that it will stop you're drinking. It's at that point, that I suggest you go to work on resolving the issues that have contributed to you becoming alcoholic.
For me it hasn't been the complete answer but it has allowed me tto look at myelf without the alcoholic haze obscuring my vision. Maybe some Bac haze but who knows!
Good luck to you ITAH.Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

It is a difficult thing to speak about, how wild, harsh and impenetrable that wood is. Just thinking about it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death, but in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. --Dante, paraphrased
