    RIP Dr Ameisen

Just read the French news this morning (I'm French): it's official, Olivier Ameisen died of a heart attack in his sleep at age 60.

RIP to the man who saved my life. This happened 1 month after Baclofen had a temporary authorization of prescription for addiction in France, at least he got to see the fruits of his combat before passing away.

Today is a sad day, it really sucks that it is completely shadowed by the royal birth.

He died on 18th July -the royal baby only born today.
    Don't blame him

Well Lady Di's death outshone the death of Mother Teresa who 'chose' to die the same day as the princess. Dr. Ameisen must have been a humble man.

        Olivier Ameisen

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

Very sad, a pioneer in alcohol addiction treatment, and ironic he died from heart failure, given he was a cardiologist. His findings through his own experience and others will live on, thankfully!

Was high dose of baclofen the cause...after all he was a cardiologist knowing that heart is a muscle and baclofen is muscle relaxant...?

South Africa doesn't stand for anything, it's the name of a country. South America is the name of a continent, Central America is the name of a geographic region, and I'm quite sure that Peruvians know where Peru is.

I'm very sorry that Baclofen didn't work for you and that you're still having a rough time (apparently). That's no reason to take your frustrations out on folks here. Please take care of yourself and get well.

I'm going to go..... I've got much better things to do then play around with you here.

                  Best wishes,
                  -tk

                  p.s.

I have a good feeling that somehow you'll find a way to make all of the mess you've posted this afternoon disappear.......

Dr.Ameisen was a great pioneer in the Addiction science. He will be sorely missed.I am grateful for him for saving my life and that of so many others. If the good doctor had not existed we would be still active alchoholics and many of us would be dead by now. God bless this man!
