    Antabuse Question

Hi I ve been on it for 4 weeks now and so far apart from a bit of depression last week its been a success.
However I am feeling very tired most of the time now.
My original plan was 250mg a day for 6 months bur the tiredness is becoming a pain.
Should I cut down my intake to every few days ? is 6 months a long time on AB?
I am pretty certain if I stop taking it altogether I will start drinking again at the moment
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

    Antabuse Question

Hi, I had some success with antabuse last year when I gt six months without a drink but then I stopped taking it and started drinking again not long after, but what I can say happened to me was I was on 200mg a day and ok with it, then just because I was buying online and running loow I started cutting the pills in half everyday, still ok but when I started taking them every other day I ran into trouble, after not taking it for a day the next day my mind was telling me to not take it again, then I was just getting close to when I could drink so my advice to you would be to cut the pill in half but still take it everyday and try it that way see if you feel better. I dont think six months is a long time, do you get it from your doctor, if so its best to ask them but I think the reccommended time is usually a year which gives you time for your body to get used to not drinking and to change your lifestyle, only you will know when you are ready to do this, six months may be plenty for you.

    good luck

      Antabuse Question

HI Space ad thanks for your reply.
No one knows I am on Antabuse as I got it online not even my wife. The pills come in 500mg which I cut in half and take daily I think I will cut in half again for 125mg. I have a bit of a bug that may be the cause of my tiredness or it could be the AB. I don't really think about alcohol much now, but I agree with you that if I start missing days before long I will be counting down the days to drinking again. I will need at least 6 months maybe even 12 to get it right out my system and head

        Antabuse Question

I've heard of people reporting tiredness from Antabuse- some people use it to their advantage by taking it before bed, and letting the tiredness help them fall asleep. That might be a way to go- but the only downside I could see to that is if you're strongly triggered at night, you might be more tempted to skip the dose and count down to when you can drink.

Antabuse works well to take away the thoughts of "will I or won't I", but you do have to guard against skipping doses and counting down to when you can "safely" drink.

Also, I assume you know that Antabuse has a long half-life and can damage the liver if you drink too soon on it, correct?

          Antabuse Question

Hi gmc, its great that you are not thinking of drink much now so I do agree that you should continue daily with 125mg and if the tiredness continues can you take it maybe when you get in from work, I dont think I would wait later in the day than that though I found I needed to take it earlier when my resolve was at its strongest.

            Antabuse Question

I went on holiday for 2 weeks and due to packing etc forgot to take any pills. So then I started counting the days and on day 11 had a drink and have drank everyday "4 days" since. I just figured I am on my holidays so be it.
However I have been feeling really tired of late and on the first few days of my holiday I was having afternoon naps. Then after about 5 days of no antabuse I felt OK again and stopped needing my naps.
So now I am wondering if ANTABUSe is for me its a great tool for stopping drinking as I do not get any physical craving for alcohol I just have the arguments in my head whether to drink or not which AB stops. however is it worth giving up any energy I do have for it? I am not so sure now it seems there is now easy answer for quitting after all :O(

GMC - AB stays in the system for 7 days. This is what I was told and what I choose to believe. So why not take it as required?
You do not want to drink - right ? You have no craving for drink right ?
So why not just take it every time you KNOW you will be in a situation that will tempt you ?
So if that is every day - then I would top it up every 4 days at night ?

                Antabuse Question

Hi GMC! I took AB for about a month and was very tired. I eventually went down to 125 mg per day. I would take it before bed, but was still tired. I eventually went off of it and started drinking right away.

I would advise you to start taking it again, maybe at lunch time. Make sure to take your vitamin B supps, too, as they help with fatigue. Good luck!
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

                  Antabuse Question

I will try that, I will take a pill everyday for 2 weeks then reduce it to just twice a week.
My liver and kidney must be in a sorry old state I will get a blood test done ASAP. I have large bags under my eyes that I thought would of gone after 6 weeks AF, I have Googled this and read this is a sign of kidneys under strain?

                    Antabuse Question

Stop Googling! You'll make yourself nuts. It's always good to get blood work done before/while taking Antabuse. I wouldn't worry too much if you're not having any other symptoms? I think bags under eyes can be hereditary or from poor sleep. I'm sure there are other causes, too. Just ask your MD.

                        Antabuse Question

I was hoping someone might have some info on the Antabuse alldaychemist have for sale. Its called Dizone and is manufactured by Ozone Pharmaceuticals. I've never used this company before but from reading reports on here they seem to be legit.

Its the price that seems to be odd. $3 for 30 pills... $6 for 60? That seems way too cheap. I wouldn't even risk drinking on Antabuse so you could probably give me sugar pills and I'd never know but I'd like to know I was using a proper med.

I'd really like to start on Antabuse as soon as possibly. I need a break from alcohol to try and clear my head even if it is only for a month or two.

                          Antabuse Question

Cant remember where I bought mine as I was drunk when I ordered them and deleted the notification email as I did not want anybody to know,"drunken madness" I think it was Canada though. I know I paid ?68 with postage for 90x 500mg pills which seemed a fair price I cut them down to 125mg
For that price I cant imagine the legit

                            Antabuse Question

The price definitely seems odd but I couldn't see them selling fake meds as I know their Baclofen and Naltrexone are the real deal. I've sent them an email enquiring about the price. I'm in the UK and would usually order from Goldpharma but they are out of stock.

                              Antabuse Question

I took 250mg for five days and now take it twice a week, nothing more. I figure if I take it the AB on a Sunday night, the earliest I might be able to drink is the next week. Then I take a pill on Wed just to help keep me on the straight and narron. I am doing this until I get past a really big event next month. Then, if I am feeling strong, I will take the AB only once a week, and eventually go off it. For me, it has been a godsend. Too many temptations and the voice in my head saying "go ahead, have some wine" was driving me crazy. I still have cravings for wine, but I don't act on them.
