By the way, before baclofen I was also drinking every third day or so.
I am increasing my bac dose to find my switch, though I'm doing so very slowly in comparison to most people. I step up by 10mg only every 8 days. I began to have good results (diminishing cravings/interest in drinking) around 80 mg/day and am still increasing very slowly (currently at 100mg/day, as I'd mentioned previously) until I find my switch.

My progress thread has more in detail. I should definitely note though, that even with some encouraging progress, I am by no means a complete success story- I'm still a newbie. I've only been on my bac/nal protocol for about 90 days. So take what I said with that in mind. The old timers on the forums have much more knowledge than I do, so other newbies should definitely take the time to read more of their threads.

Downsouth, apologies if I've hijacked your thread! Hopefully what I've posted is helpful in some way

You have not hacked at all and I appreciate all the feedback and advice. I want to stop this before it gets way out of hand. Before my daughters are teenagers watching me father drink every night!

I hear that. I think gaining control over alcohol and/or reaching sobriety is very important for so many reasons... not the least of which is being present and healthy so we can enjoy our relationships with our loved ones. Do it for them, do it for yourself... just do it.

        And best of luck!!

Hi downsouth, you dont mention what dose topa your on so its hard for me to tell whether you could take more topa to help more with the cravings it does usually take a while of increasing the dose for it to work at its best, there is a dosing schedule in the My Way Out book that some people have used to get results from it, and since you already get it and from a doctor I do think you should continue with the topa rather than changing to bac, which I found to have worse side effects. I think you can buy nal online in Canada although I cant say for sure as Im not there but I do kind of remember someone else having problems getting it there in the past. Someone else has mentioned some online pharmacies which seem to have a good reputation so look them up and find out, I dont see a reason why you shouldnt be able to buy it. I have never tried nal but have seen on here some poeple who have had good results with it.

              My dose

My daily dose is 150mg and I take it at night. Tend to wake up at 4 so thinking about changing the time I take the Topamax any better ideas for dosing regimen. Also any supplements that would help out. Thanks - Downsouth

Hi DS -glad you are here. It has taken about 120 days for baclofen my SEs to become manageable. There have only been a few occasions where I did have to pull over from driving and rest for about 20 minutes. These occasions occurred at night and shortly after taking my 20mg. Regardless of all SEs, this has been an absolute miracle ride for me. I am also glad to hear that you are quitting for Yourself, wife, and kids. You have got to be selfish when it comes to quitting alcohol -meaning your path to sobriety has to come first before all else. Just an opinion, of course. Also, I hear that drinking alcoholically never gets better -seems it eventually takes more and more to fill the bill. Good luck and hope you let us know how you proceed.

I'll agree with Spirit's sentiment here, especially because it's through successful sobriety/control that all other good things become possible and within reach!
