restlessness on baclofen?

I recently started baclofen, just went up to 75mg a day. I have noticed that since starting baclofen i get this sensation in my hip flexors where i keep tensing them, kind of like the feeling of restless legs. I find myself tensing them without realising which is leading to a dull ache and general uncomfortable feeling in the leg. It seems that it's worse when i go up in a dosage.

Has anyone had something similar to this? the feeling that some muscle groups keep tensing?

I took a day to think about your question. I'm not sure if I've experienced the same thing. In my first months on baclofen I felt like my legs were tensing as if to hold me onto the earth. My neck and shoulders were also tense. I realized that I've always held my body tense. I was surprised because Dr Ameisen said his muscle tension stopped with his first dose of baclofen. My tension did disappear and was replaced with muscle fatigue.

I was surprirsed also. I've read Dr Ameisens book and my impression was like you, that muscle relaxation would set in straight away.

It seems to me when i go up in dose i experience the side effect mentioned in my original post. I'm on day 5 of 75mg and now no longer experience this restlessness in my hip flexors. I plan on going up to 100mg soon, so if i experience hte same thing at that dosage, i will know for sue it was baclofen. I will report back on this.

I found on bac that I tensed my jaw at night, with intense pain in my jaw/temples all day long. Not sure if it was a direct SE of the bac, or maybe just stress, maybe some stress from trying to live sober without the crutch of alcohol...
It's slowly getting better, though, thankfully.
