As for neurologists and psychiatrists: I just can't go to all of them around here hoping to find the one... I've looked docs up online here in FL, using Bac, alcoholism, high dosage etc as key words. It took me hours and I found nothing....

Urgent: Dr. Levin can no longer prescribe baclofen
Jeesh, why the panic?
Use liquid baclofen. It is better than any pills you will find, including prescription pills. It is safe. I have been taking it for about 2 years, give or take. It is relatively inexpensive.
The only potential downside is that it is not under a doctor's supervision. But what sort of supervision is it when it generally begins with "Well, I don't know much about it, but..." Even Dr L himself doesn't seem very helpful in this regard.

The downside you mentioned is not a small thing. Of course I was trying to get a specialist who knew what was doing, not just anybody with a medical degree, but that looks beyond difficult too. Hence the frustration. Hence the panic.
I just want to do this. Right. Now.
Do you get the liquid from LoOp?

I believe I've read that River Pharmacy sells/ships bac. I read that the Lioresol recently shot up in price, but I think they sell other varieties...
I've noticed that River Pharmacy also has banner ads here on MWO, for whatever that's worth...
Zampa- Whichever way you choose to go, I commend you for ditching the unhelpful doc/therapist. You can definitely find better ones, if you choose to... it might be difficult or frustrating, but they're out there.

Very disappointing about Dr. L, but knowing his passion for this treatment I'm sure he'll do everything he can to get things back on track. I hope the folks who know him well will keep us posted if he's able to return to business as usual.
I was curious though, couldn't you always make an appointment, go to Chicago, get a script and fill it in the city? Or would it still be considered 'out of state' if you don't have an Illinois address? If you have good insurance and get a large prescription it may be cheaper in the long run than ordering overseas.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, or even the right post.
In high school, we all had a teacher who repeatedly said, "people, people, people . . . " I haven't thought of him for decades. But, people. people, people . . . Dr. Levin is a saint, and seems to be unperturbed by what he surely knew was coming as a result of throwing his hat into the ring early, and earnestly.
It is a grave error, in my opinion, to start down the bacofen path with the idea that you will find a medical professional upon whom you can rely to tell you what and how to find your way out with baclofen. A very, very few, over what I have read and known about in the past 4 years have found that kind of assistance. VERY few. I have to admit, I have watched the conversations about whether or not insurance will pay for baclofen, and where to find a doctor to not only prescribe, but inform, with total dismay.
"As if," my head hears. As if Dr. Ameisen's discovery had been met with awe and astonishment. As if big pharma and the treatment industry (with 2 exceptions I have read about here) have any interest in a drug that produces non-linear, predictable results among the masses; as if baclofen has a measurable presence in mainstream medicine or among medical professionals.
I guess I can wrap my head around someone just now finding MWO and thinking we are talking about something akin to taking insulin for diabetes. But it ain't like that. chigg is absolutely right. If you really want a reliable prescription from a physician, at high enough levels to find out if you, too, will become indifferent to alcohol, start thinking about how you're going to get to Chicago.
And, again . . . this is happening a lot lately, and just let me say how happy I am to see you bleep0 . . . ditto what bleep says. Lo0p's posts have links.
I used to use AllDayChemist - Prescription drugs, Generic medicines, online indian Pharmacy They have pills. It's almost as cheap to buy them from India and have them shipped as it is to buy them OTC there. But people, people, people . . . Dr. Levin is being prevented from prescribing HDB interstate. Who is watching him, and who the fuck cares what he is doing? We are not in Kansas, anymore, friends. We are still fighting to save our lives with a non-FDA approved remedy. It's not like it's a scheduled drug."Wherever you are is the entry point." --Kabir

Zampa, your own doctor is typical of most doctors when it comes to baclofen. How does being under the "guidance" of someone like that help in any way? Every time you came away from there you felt worse, and that again is typical of a lot of peoples experience when it comes to baclofen. I think the sooner people stop relying on doctors who know nothing, and do nothing to alleviate that ignorance, the better off they will be.
Take matters into your own hands and sort this out. Enough people have done it before that it is no longer a step into a complete unknown. Yes, it can be frightening, and at times you may think you have taken on too much, but that same feeling can also be extremely empowering if you approach it with the right attitude. How can it be anything else? You are about to do something that medical literature tells you is impossible to do.

As sad as this situation is, it may be a blessing in disguise as it will then almost force many of us to reach out to other doctors. Walk in armored in all the research, studies, and books possible...it will then spread the word of this "underground miracle"! Even if they turn you away, then at least you planted a seed in their head. Most of us have already begun the therapy and KNOW that it works. You can be their living proof of it right before their eyes.
My heart is with Dr. Levin, when he spoke of the situation he was just heartbroken that "these mean people would do this to someone trying to save lives". I think we should pray, send good vibes, meditate good things, spread love his way.
Please...no one call him and blame him or tear him down for your supply getting cut! I know this is a stressful thing to hear about and us alcoholics are notorious for attacking people for "cutting our supplies". Let's break that habit and just be grateful for what he's been trying to do. Let's support him through this!
Also, where do you find liquid Bac??If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place. Primary reality is within; secondary reality without.? - Eckhart Tolle

Urgent: Dr. Levin can no longer prescribe baclofen
After discovering MWO recently and viewing a few threads regarding baclofen treatment for addiction, I decided to join these forums today and this is my very first post. A few months ago I was on HDB from my addiction doc, and when he observed that my demeanor had changed so dramatically, he labeled it as mania and took me off it. I had become happier, more confident, and indifferent to alcohol and narcotics in general, and my doc decided I was "too happy" and that it end up hurting me in the long run. It resulted in a terrible state of withdrawal.
So imagine my happiness when I joined this forum and discovered Dr Levin's info and his ability to prescribe out of state within the last two days. When I was literally going to call him tonight for the very first time, I see today that he's isn't prescribing outside of Chicago anymore. I'm incredibly bummed, and I hope somehow that if I call him he might be able to do something in my state. Either way, it's good to join here and read other people's experiences. I sincerely hope we will all hear better news sooner than later. Baclofen changed my life for the three months I was on it, and I know it's changed many other lives as well. I'm still going to call him tonight, and hopefully he'll have something to say that leaves hope alive. It's good to be here. Thanks for reading my first post.

I wouldn't (and am not) counting on it. Hopefully we can work together to make sure that everyone keeps their supply steady and doesn't need to take drastic reductions.

Ne/Neva Eva;1544365 wrote: An up to date list of reliable online pharmacies. That thread is ancient and doesn't have the information that I think will be the most useful.
Who has ordered online recently?
I was just comparing prices between River Pharmacy and Goldpharma. Same thing costs a quarter less on GP, but I know River ships out of Canada, and I can't see where GP ships out of. Long story short, 20 bucks more are well worth if the prescription gets here in one week and not in six...
Feedback please? ( still evaluating ALL possibilities...)
Thanks.

Are River and GF cheaper than liquid bac? Are they geographically closer to the USA than ... errr ... the USA?
Rhetorical questions, so perhaps you just prefer the side effects that come with baclofen pills. If anyone is having trouble getting hold of liquid bac then drop me a PM and I'll point you in the right direction.
I hope Dr L gets his issues sorted out; I think it would be a tremendous shame if the country was deprived of his services. Would anybody care to guess at how many lives his baclofen prescriptions have saved ?"My fault, my failure, is not in the passions I have, but in my lack of control of them." Jack Kerouac

I've spoken to the person who can provide liquid Bac. He knows everything about my doubts and why I'm...err...procrastinating. But thank you.
