    Baclofen withdrawal help!

Clay;1545855 wrote: I think I was freaking out a bit as there was a sad death regarding rapid baclofen withdrawal of a patient who had been admitted to the priory in our newspapers a couple of months ago.
This was a very specific case, and the death was due to suicide brought on by anxiety related to bac withdrawal and compounded by several other factors, including a history of major anxiety/depression/suicidal ideation. It was not a physiological response to withdrawal.

I agree with bleep. If the lower doses hav only been for a few days, you should be able to go to your 120 dose immediately. You are still "used" to that.

        Baclofen withdrawal help!

Hi guys and thanks so much for your help.

I have had the WORST day ever since I started takin baclofen! My friend gave me 80mg last night, and I took 30mg then an hour late another 30mg. Today I have had my 90 mg and I am about to take my last dose of 30mg to bring me back up to my normal 120 mg per day.....but between 1pm and 4 pm today I experienced the worst anxiety ever with my whole body getting very hot, almost like sunburn. I hadn't had any sleep from the night before so that was heightening everything! It got to the stage where I took 10mg of my partners diazepam and a sleeping tablet my partner had from a couple of years ago. I slept for just over an hour, but tonight I am still very anxious and have been having terribl audio hallucinations all day! Like loud music or sirens playing in my head!

So my question is how long will it be before I feel back to the way I have been the last year on 120mg per day as I felt great!

        Is this normal?

        Thanks

According to the medical literature, baclofen withdrawal usually presents 24-72 hours after abrupt cessation (or too rapid downward titration) and usually resolves after a similar duration of time once the normal dose of baclofen is re-instated. Baclofen withdrawal help!

            Hey, thanks for replying

It's the audial hallucinations and inability to sleep that are getting to me. I am in the uk so I've been awake all night. I have plenty of baclofen now, I was just under the impression that as soon as I took baclofen again that withdrawal symptoms would stop, I had my 120mg baclofen yesterday but those three days rapid titration then fourth day with zero seems to altered my baclofen equilibrium so to speak?? So do you think I will be feeling like this for a couple of days until my body catches up?

            Thanks

If it takes 72 hours to feel withdrawl logic could say it takes that long to get levels back up however when I was tapering off and took an extra 10mg as soon as I felt a bit wonky, it worked within the hour. Perhaps I got over it without the dose?

My personal experience is that it takes about 3 days before the effects of a lower or higher dose manifests itself.

So my best guess is that it will take about 3 days.
