New to bac...does anyone else snore?
Not sure if this is common or not..does anyone else have a problem with snoring on bac? The spouse noted it ( not complaining, really) and I've actually woken myself up a couple times..sort of snorting/ snoring. I'm assuming it's due too it's muscle relaxing effect? Will it go away?Tags: None

So the snoring is actually keeping me up at nite...not good as I'm heading in for a 12hour shift at work today:zonedout:: I'm taking a dose at bedtime...maybe I need to cut that out?
I go to sleep fine but then later wake myself up snoring and then can't get get back to sleep because I start in again right away. I'm a nurse so I kinda need to awake and alert at my job!
The good thing is the bac is working I think...at 100mg/day my drinking is pretty much half what it was.

Sixcat11,
I take my last dose by 8:00 PM so maybe don't skip your last dose. Just take it earlier. If you need to just increase the amount of the dose so you can take your last one earlier.
Baclofen worked for me. After 9 months I rarely get the thought to drink. When I do I check to see if it's my old habit or if I would just like a glass of wine or a beer. It's no longer a big deal. In the last month I've had 1 beer and 2 glasses of wine. And no feeling of wanting to have more or of missing having more. It's such a freeing feeling.

Six... I too take my last dose not too close to bedtime, but that's for the SE of insomnia/short breath. It's helped, so maybe it would help you with the snoring/waking thing too.

Some troubling side effects I'm having: odd, kind of shocky, pins and needles feeling in my hand(but very brief), clumsy..kind of unsteady feeling, spacey, restless...constantly fidgeting.. Do these sound familiar to anyone?

Six,
Yes to all of your SEs. I had them all. I read a lot and I use a little piece of paper as a book mark. One day I swear that paper fell out at least 9 times (each time with me cussing as I picked it up) before I realized that I should take it out of the book while reading!
At 9 months on bac my hands now just buzz and the joints feel tight and a little painful. I only got those sharp shocks after mowing my lawn in the middle of a hot day. I do still find that the heat affects me and physical exertion in the heat is trouble for me. I did hike 5-6 miles yesterday and it went ok (phew) but my muscles hurt later. I used to bushwhack and hike 10 miles or more in a day, but I'm not willing to push it now.
I can deal with the SEs because bac has truly given me a new life in all aspects.

Agree with Kronk, yes I have experienced all of those SE's too. In my experience they go away after a while at a steady dose, but while you're titrating up or down they do tend to stick around.
It'll get better and it's worth dealing with the SE's and letting them eventually pass.

Just remember that, while baclofen was intended to be a muscle relaxer, the most important SE of baclofen is indifference to alcohol (eventually). And that's the SE that's going to stay.Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Nightmares very problematic over the weekend...causingme to wake up and be unable to go back to sleep. Actually called out of work today because I'm a nurse and today was a 12 hour shift...terrified to make a mistake at work with this level of tiredness! I had backed off to 75 mg after being up to 100 for most of last week. My question is should I keep trying to titrate up...but maybe go more slowly? I was going up by 25 mg at a time. 12.5 mg at a time, maybe?
