I am in Cyprus...and there is this light in the sky...

I had forgotten what cloudless skies were like, having lived in the UK for the past 23 years. We drove about a week across Europe and when we hit Turkey my engine blew up, literally. I had taken the car in to have a service but they forgot to check the oil.

Anyway, after two days in a hotel we set off again only to hit Bayram, the muslim religious holidays and we couldn't get ferry to Cyprus so we wound up camping with the dog in a campsite which resembled a Syrian refugee camp. People in Turkey camp on patches of dirt next to the sea and sleep on groundsheets. Four days of this and I was ready to move on..

Sitting next to the pool now. We just rented a nice new house up in the mountains and will move in a few weeks.

That is it for the UK. I don't ever want to live there again. It is turning into some sort of politically correct bureaucratic hell.

Everything is great on the health front with bac and Mirtazapine doing the trick and the wife losing over 85 pounds since January.

The boy is starting in a private school in a couple of weeks and then I will start to look at working or doing something without the cloud and the clouds hanging over me that made my life misery in godawful Glasgohhh.:H

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

It is definitely and improvement. You can get baclofen OTC.

For any doubters of baclofen, this would have been out of the question a few years ago before baclofen. It is like starting over again and having a new life with all the hopes and possibilities that alcoholism made impossible. It's hard to describe how much of a difference it makes.

No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

X, why would you want to live in a place where it does nothing but rain for 5 days of the year?

I don't know either. I must be out of my mind.

We went for a walk in the mountains yesterday and the moon was still up there. It looked like a big ball like I could reach out and touch it. Normally, in Scotland it is difficult to see across the street through the mist.

Hi Otter -glad to read your posts. I'm at that starting over point and I think I am beginning to sense a taste of freedom -even in the bleakest of days. Sounds like you have had a huge shot of courage and are starting to enjoy the benefits of the injection? See ya .
