I have just started on an anti-depressant Wellbutrin 150mg per day. I am finding that my alcohol cravings have diminished? has anyone else exoerienced the same ? i have been on this med for approx. 1 week and can feel my ups and downs lessen and am feeling more in control. I am hoping this continues...feedback welcomed

Wellbutrin was by far my favorite anti-depressant. I think the craving issue is different for everyone, but after only a week, your lack of alcohol cravings may be a placebo effect. But whatever works, right?? It's definitely effective in helping you quit smoking, which is an off-label use. The best thing about Wellbutrin is that it starts working faster than other anti-depressants, and it also has a slightly energizing effect. When I was on it after awhile, it did seem to help with my desire to quit a few addictions. Hopefully it works for you as well. -

yes it states it is affective for quitting smoking...i am amazed how quickly the medication has worked...i am hoping this may curve my need to drink as well as lift my spirits. Not many side effects for me as of yet.......and definately more energy......thanks for the note
