    Buying Antabuse Self Medicating

After months or trying to moderate my drinking, stop my drinking, control my drinking & failing at all things, I'm thinking of buying Antabuse online as I know that will stop me drinking as I'd be too scared of the reaction. I want to stop, I need to stop before it stops me forever.
My doctor was rubbish when I asked for help - just cut down gradually he said.
Has anyone done this on their own without seeing their doc? Is it a foolish route to take?
I can say hand on heart that I wouldn't drink if I was taking the tabs, so surely this is a good option for me?
Would really appreciate any advice from anyone that's done it as I'm desperate to get my life back.

I did it mlisa. Your really meant to have a liver function test as its said to be hard on your liver but to be honest... could it be any harder than boozing every day? 1 every 3 days or so would even cover you. Even 1/2 a pill (125mg) would have you in serious s**t if you had a drink.

I took it once and waited a week before drinking again You really need to be on board. Its an option I'll always have though. It gave me a week AF for the first time in nearly 5 years.

I had read about the liver function test, so that worried me, but knocking back at least 2 bottles of wine a day is surely harder on my liver?
Did you have any side effects taking it? I can cope with the reported tiredness as I'm always knackered with being permanently hungover anyway.

I have done it / doing it with AB.
I take once a week - as I have taught myself that a drink within the 7 days will cause reaction.
        Go for it !
Saved me from myself I can tell you :goodjob:

The will I ? / won't I ? / just the one - is taken all away - you just can't - so you move on with your life !
        Excellent !!

Headaches and bad ones at that but it could have been from the hair product I was using even thought I don't think it contained alcohol. A bit of a rash on the back of my head which leads me back to the hair product.

I'd fire away without worrying to much about the LFT if your drinking 2 bottles of wine a night. A tablet say twice a week in no way could do any more damage than that.

You get the same warning about Naltrexone being hard on the liver. I never had any problems and I get a LFT every 6 months. I'll not go back to my GP for one thought as I took a panic attack last time out and collapsed in the bathroom out side the nurses office.

My sister does mine now (shes a nurse) Just had one this morning on the subject.

Give it a try. If your sure your frightened enough not too drink, even if you don't stick it you'll still get a break of maybe even months. I was s**t scared on that 7th day after my pill but was fine and ended up having 8 beers I only ever only took one pill thought so I hadn't got a lot build up in my system

You have the right mindset mlisa - do it !
I haven't noticed any tiredness - only in the first weeks but that was my body adjusting to the lack of alcohol calories I think..... and we can do without those ?

This is true to an extend but the whole time (1 week) I was on it I craved like a mad man and planned the whole time on that 7th day. I even flushed the rest of the bottle so I couldn't take anymore

Its not for everyone as said but At worst you'll get a break from the booze. Apart from the cravings, I had a nice AF week

Ah yes - but you enjoyed the AF week. And ANY AF is good and it's feels so good you want to do it more !

Have you done it since ?

Thanks for all this. How long have you been AF now Satz123? I can't wait to take alcohol out of the picture. I know I won't drink if I take the tablet & first thing in the morning, I'm always so full of resolve not to drink....by 4pm, I'm back on the booze. Do you buy yours from River?

We bought ab oj line and Hubbys takes 1/2 500mg tablet once a week. So much less stress on his liver then whiskey every day. It works. He drank a little once. Not again. He will not repeat that. It doesn't seem to do anything until he drank. It works.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

That's what I know will work for me - the fact that I will be very ill if I drink, that's enough to stop me. It's great that it's working for your hubby. Where do you buy it from? Would really appreciate recommendations so I know I'm buying the genuine article.

I haven't mate but I'm about to make an order for some Naltrexone and might buy a box while I'm at it. As you say.... Any AF time is good time.

Just looking at buying them on GoldPharma - they mention a prescription. Do you need to have one? Do they deliver within the timeframe they say - max of 10 days?

Always on time when I used them. You don't need a script just put down alcohol abuse when asked what the use is for. Its all just a bit of bullshit imo.

Just noticed you in the UK (Hampshire) mlisa? You should have them in less than a week I've never had to wait 10 days from Goldpharma. I think thats the max time just to cover themselves. I got a delivery in 3 days before.
