    Buying Antabuse Self Medicating

Just catching up on everything here and decided to jump in.

From what I know, Antabuse is not an option for people when they've already got cirrhosis, but in earlier stages of liver problems I think it's still OK. It is hard on your liver--but 2 bottles of wine a day, unless you've been popping tylenol every day too, you should be fine. Might want a liver test anyway, wouldn't hurt.

And goldpharma is great. Just click the box that says "yes I swear I've been seen by a physician and yeah, I promise he prescribed this very thing." I've only had a problem of a shipment not arriving once, and there's a quick little form you go through to say it didn't show up, and they expedited a replacement and it arrived within about a week, for free. So yeah, they are wonderful.

Do you get this message when ordering & do they follow up on it?

For reasons of patient and drug safety the dispensing pharmacy requires a prescription prior to dispensation. We require that you forward us your prescription within 7 days after ordering otherwise your order will be canceled.

Please forward us your prescription :

      1) as a digital photo / scan by email to rx@goldpharma.com or

      2) as a fax to 0027-1-4004-0370 (North America 011-27-1-4004-0370

From memory they ask you if you have your own script. It sounds like you might have said you had your own script when ordering? I usually say I don't and am then just asked a health questionnaire.

I've never been asked that in over 10 orders.

Yeah, I did say that I had a prescription - so used to the lies! Just tried again & got asked a few questions. Had a message saying order has gone through & a health pro will be in touch if they need to ask further questions. Thanks for your help! Here's hoping it goes through quickly. Already, I feel like a weight has been lifted at the prospect of my life changing...as I sit here on bottle number 2.

Just had a look mlisa. Yeah it looks like you chosse option...

Yes, I have a valid prescription and I will forward it either by fax, email or post mail.

            You need to choose...

No, I do not have a prescription. I like to complete a tele-medical consultation in order to receive the requested treatment.

            And fill in the questionnaire.

I am going to put a different perspective - AB can be very hard on the liver even in small doses. That is what happened to me. I figure this is better than drinking but it is not a long time solution for some of us.
AB gave me compulsory sober time but I had to come off it after about 3 months. I have stayed AF since then but I had to do this with no medication and carefully watch what I ate (to help my liver). By the way I never take Tylenol or any other painkillers

My point being is that yes, those warnings about potential damage to the liver are to be taken seriously and you should have liver function tests - as you should if you are consuming 1-2 bottles of wine a day

I don't take painkillers either, so am hoping that helps. I had a liver ultra scan at the beginning of the year & was congratulated on how well I'd looked after myself -?!?! I was expecting bad news & hoping that would be the shock I needed, but it gave me the green light to carry on going mad.

Every time I get blood work done I'm always worried but it always comes back fine and like yourself its like a green light to keep on going. I've been burning it at both ends of late thought so I hope I won't be getting any bad news hopefully around Friday.

I started on AB in mid July because I could rack up 30-35 AF but could not seem to break through to two consecutive AF months. I do a lot of international travel (with free booze pushed down the aisles four times per flight and tons of free alcohol in airport and hotel VIP lounges) and just found the constant mind chatter too much. I take half a tablet (125mg) every 7-10 days -- that seems to do the trick for me. I don't want to suffer the consequences of drinking while AB is in my system and very much want to stop drinking. I also had a LFT before going on the AB.

I attribute my 75 days AF to my strong commitment to lead an AF life, to regular posting on MWO, and to AB.

You might want to join one of the AF October threads that were just started. I find the daily encouragement helpful.

                          Best wishes in your journey.

                            Buying Antabuse Self Medicating

                            Hi mlisa,
Like you, I'm in the UK. I ordered Antabuse from Goldpharma and they came in about 10 days.

I used them a couple of times, but think I was in the wrong frame of mind when I took them. I felt quite angry and resentful that I couldn't drink - and didn't continue with them (although I loved the af time they brought me)

I am currently taking part in 'Go Sober'. You might have heard of it - a campaign to raise money for MacMillan cancer by going sober for the month of October. You get people to sponsor you not to drink.

For me, this has been like virtual Antabuse. My daughters and friends have sponsored me, and there's no way I'm going to let them down. I feel incredibly strong about this - completely different from when I took Antabuse.
Like others have said, it works fantastically for some, not for others.
I wouldn't worry about whether they are the genuine article - Goldpharma are a reputable firm, and as far as I was concerend, I wasn't prepared to take the risk of drinking, even if they weren't genuine. People have literally died when drinking of these things - they're not to be messed with!

I probably won't use mine again, and would be happy to send you a couple of mine if you're very anxious to get started. I will hold onto some - just in case I have a change of heart - but think I currently have about 40 left, so plenty of 'back up insurance'

                            Let me know

Yep, tmorties - had an e mail saying it was approved by a physician.
Thanks free at last. I used to do a lot of business travel & all the booze on flights & in hotels was too much temptation for me. I was permanently hammered.
I'm going to get a LFT done - have found some places online that do them privately, so I don't have to go back to my GP who suggested I moderate my drinking. Flippin' heck, what a genius. Took a lot of guts to go & see him, for that little nugget!
Mycall, that's really kind of you to offer, thank you. I'll hang on & wait for my order as I've got a few big nights out planned, so might as well get them out of the way before I start on this sober journey! Thank you though. Yes, heard of the Sober October - good luck!
If I was to take half a tablet a week, surely that wouldn't be putting a lot of pressure on my liver? Can't imagine it's anything as bad as 14 bottles of wine & numerous beers?

Hmmm, seems it's not so easy to get a private LFT done here. The private hospitals I've spoken to require a referral from the GP. Damn!
