Hi

I'm just off the phone to my Doctor, really having trouble coping with anxiety. Feel myself getting anxious about going to everyday things that I should be enjoying. Sucks the goodness out of everything.

He has prescribed a daily tablet (2 months supply) as an anti depressant beta blocker - propranolol

I got them before after my dad died and they were great at blocking anxiety symptoms.

Is it ok to take them alongside Baclofen - I'm on 140mg

I need the name to be sure. The likelihood of it being fine (IMO at 2 am and in between bouts of sleep) is high. But don't take this as an affirmation.

I take metaprolol (a beta blocker) daily to prevent migraines.

A very easy way to find out without getting anything on your medical record is to tell the pharmacist that you are taking baclofen and to please check if there are interactions. They usually are more knowledgeable about those things than doctors are. You can call them back too.

I just saw you edited and added the name. An Epocrates search on my phone found no interactions between baclofen and propranolol.

That's pretty definitive. But it's always a good idea to have your pharmacist add baclofen to your list of medications so that anything you get will be checked against your list.

Being a professional musician that suffered from debilitating performance anxiety, I got a prescription for propanolol upon recommendation from a former mentor. He went ahead and did it, convinced it would produce nothing more than a placebo affect. So I think you're probably ok, but still it's probably best to check with your doctor or pharmacist. By the way, I am on the highest dosage of lisinopril, another BP medication (my BP is off-the-charts from basically being continuously drunk the past seven years), and I haven't had any issues, even when I also pop an occasional trazodone when I can't sleep. The primary concern is that these meds combined could dangerously lower your blood pressure if you have low BP, or even low-normal BP, but if it's in the regular normal range, you should be fine.

Hey Alky, I'm quite fit, recently joined Crossfit and I've never had a bother with blood pressure - did you find the propanolol helped with your performance anxiety?

Doctors are tools. For me anyway.

I finally found one who I until recently considered sharp and open minded enough to where I actually yielded the first shot at diagnosing me and one of my more recent health issues: migraines.

He asked me: "So you've researched migraines, right?" He knows that what I do for a living involves a lot of medical research.

"No. I specifically did not because I didn't want my thoughts to obscure your objective opinion."

"Damn, I wish I had more patients like you."

I won't go into how he lost that privilege. So far in my life as far as diagnoses and proper courses of treatment are concerned it's something like: Me > 15, doctors

Yes! It doesn't keep me from getting nervous, but it does prevent the debilitating symptoms of stage fright - the hyperventilating, the shakes, etc.

Hey Emily!!! I'm decent. That 30 days was fun. U guys helped me more than I helped u. Bummer u can't tell ur doctor. Small community shouldn't matter. If they ever told anyone, u would be rich.

It makes a lot of them feel as though they are above reproach and done with learning. Humility goes out the window and once that is gone they no longer have the right to call themselves scientists.

Not all of them. But too many, as many of us can bear witness.
