Also, are there any thoughts of any vitamins / supplements that could be beneficial or at least theoretically somehow catalyze what the Bac does? About a month ago I started taking B vitamins and surprisingly I think they make me feel better. Any such observations from your Bac routes?

First days advice?
I hope to have my Bac pills tomorrow in the evening, I wanted to start the project off immediately, but: I have a 500 mile drive over the weekend, which could be both boring and dangerous if the snow falls as anticipated. I haven't been too sensitive to any medicine so far, but just in case: is it probable, that the starting 15 mg/day could significantly impact my driving? I'm not in a rush, but if any such SEs are only a possibility, or I could adjust based what on happens on Thursday and Friday, I'd rather not wait until Monday.

First days advice?
Hi And, I delayed starting bac until I finished a cross-country drive since I wasn't sure how it would affect me. I'm inclined to think that at the low dosage at which you start, you'll barely feel any effects. But, if there's any doubt as to how it will affect you, it's probably advisable to err on the side of caution. In the middle of my life's journey, I found myself in a dark wood, as I had lost the straight path. It is a difficult thing to speak about, how wild, harsh and impenetrable that wood is. Just thinking about it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death, but in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. --Dante, paraphrased

First days advice?
I started off taking 5mg at night before bed for the first 3 or so days, I think. I had no noticeable effects. Then went to 5mg in the am and 5mg pm for a couple days, and so on. When you're just starting out, try just taking 1/2 a pill or whatever is going to be close to 5mg, and see how you feel. If it messes with you, you could just not take any more until you're done with your drive.

MS Excel is going to be your best friend here. Make a titration schedule, set it for low and slow, and record how much you drink each day. Getting impatient with Baclofen cost me a job and was very unpleasant on my body.
Also- and this echoes the experience of many others on here: When you reach the switch, that is just the entry point into your recovery. You will still have to deal with your alcoholic bad habits. Get a start on that now. Commit to something (preferably ONE thing), whether it's exercise, getting your finances in order or taking on some project and see it through.
For me it was getting debt paid off. I owed 5k on my car, 20k for school. Between June and October I obliterated the car and got school down to 14k. It doesn't seem like that would have much to do with not drinking- but it meant not going to the bar every night, finding new things to do with my time that didn't cost money, learning to cook more instead of eating out, etc. That one commitment straightened out about 10 other things passively.
Another thing- you're going to have to settle for "not bad" things before you get to any "good" things. For me it was just being able to keep a job at all rather than excelling at it, not running up credit card debt rather than becoming rich overnight, becoming physically capable of exercising rather than becoming fit. You get the picture- you've got to level the ground before you build your castle.
View this less as a cure and more as an opportunity- it is what you make of it.

First days advice?
Sincere thank you for your posts. The doc talked me into being on 30 mgs on the first month. I'm not desperate, I will play along, since I'm curious, if the Bac benefits from building up in you for weeks of stable dose, somehow like the SSRIs. Maybe slower titration gives same effects at slightly smaller doses. For the introductory days until Sunday I decided to go 10 mgs in the evening - the first pill did not return any effects whatsoever - actually I was kind of counting on some sleepiness maybe, but no, 1:30 in the morning local time, and I have to revert to good old vodka. I won't bother you guys until I get any effects worth mentioning. Thanks again !

This is really a hard thing to ask. It seems to be different for everyone. I took 60 mg my first day and didnt feel like I took anything. I guess I don't recommend that because that is not true for a lot of people. None of us are doctors so I would wait, but I seriously doubt 15 mg will do anything. Maybe take them at night when u get to ur destination. When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.

First days advice?
From my personal experience...I started off with 5mg in the AM for the first two days. Then, 5mg in the AM and another 5mg in the evening for the next three days. I'll admit, I've taken a massive amounts of drugs in my day and the initial 5mg had me a bit loopy. I'd take caution with 15mg to start and driving.
It's quite common for bac users to jump up 10-20mg/week there after. All dependent on the tolerance level to their SEs.
Be safe with your travels. And welcome to the world of baclofen
*Also, it's very common to become extremely sleepy on bac while you're not moving about. Especially during the initial up-dose until you grow accustomed to that level of dosage.?If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place. Primary reality is within; secondary reality without.? - Eckhart Tolle
