Voice of America Interview on Baclofen for Alcoholism

It has come to my attention that there is a reporter from Voice of America seeking to interview someone on camera about baclofen for alcoholism for a TV story.

She's looking for someone in New York. She's also asking if there are any doctors in New York that prescribe baclofen for alcoholism.

After passing emails back and forth with her to feel her out...she seems very sympathetic and sweet with no ill intent on our therapy.

This is of course in no hurry. I do believe this could be a wonderful thing to bring to light through out the country.

So, any New Yorkers that aren't afraid of a camera and showing your face...(or perhaps she can do one of those victim shadow out thingies and glitch your voice?)...Please let me know!

This is amazing! I'd do it in a heartbeat, but better to find someone with long term success. Plus, I'm on the opposite side of the country.

Of course we are all aware that after the on-camera interview the editors get hold of it. What's shown in the final version can be manipulated in any way that suits the producer.

This may not happen, but it can.
My first "indifference experience" Saturday January 11, 2014. Thank God for Baclofen!

Of course. But after passing emails back and forth, I feel it is legit. We'll take it one step at a time.

Hiding in the shadows will get us nowhere.

        Thank you, baclofan.

Hi Mandi -thanks for the post/thread.

After our discussion, I had the opportunity to speak (by phone) to this journalist. I mentioned Stuart Kloda's video to her. I also told her about the Ameisen-Diane Sawyer interview. From what I could understand, she truly is just starting out on this baclofen journey-quest for information.

She went on further to say that she was only wanting to interview people in the NY area. I told her I was from NY but that my accent had changed to southern red-neck in an attempt to fit-in (lol). I went on further to tell her that I had no interest in being on a tv spot or even a a radio broadcast -no way, not even a chance -PERIOD. What I did tell her was that I was very interested in helping spread the word about baclofen and how it helps many people (not all) out of the world of alcoholism.

So please, if you are from the NE and baclofen has helped you overcome alcoholism, give her a call. You can be a part of really helping other people -most especially, alcoholics.

Interesting. Did she say why she's only interested in people from NY? And is she going to keep in touch with you guys as her story develops?

I too would not want to be on camera or radio, but I imagine there are much better advocates on here that might be willing.
