    Bac Question Titrating Down

    I hit my switch about 10 months ago at 360, since then I titrated down to 280 and stayed there for a couple of months. I was doing still could not concentrate very well in the afternoon but otherwise was doing very well. I have been asked to take on a very challenging assignment in a foreign country and have been titrating down 10 mgs every 4 or 5 days. I am now down to 215 and I am experiencing even more somnolence in the afternoon. I was planning to continue to titrate down to 180, however I am wondering if it might be better to stay at 215 for a while until I can shake the afternoon grogginess.


    Has anyone else experienced this when titrating down?

    From my understanding, the side effects moving down are worse than going up. It's a huge adjustment period for your brain and body, either way you change dosages.

    I, personally, would stick with where you're at for now and give yourself some balancing time so that you can focus on your work at hand. Just as, I won't move up or down in dosage when I have something I need to tackle. I wait until there is some leg room to adjust.

      Mandie, thats interesting the sides going down are worse. it would be helpful if there was some more information around tritating dose for those who need to come off safely. does anything like that exist currently?

        Consensus says 10mg every 5-7 days is safe and comfortable.

        There are tons of threads on titrating down. Just google search it with mywayout and have your pick.

          For the last year I've been slowly titrating down from 150 mg per day to 62.5. For about 6 weeks I was on 75 spread as 25, 12.5, 12.5, 25 at 08:00, 13:00, 18:00 and 23:00.

          I had the dozy afternoons throughout this period until my last decrease from 75 to 62.5 when I dropped the 13.00 dose. I am certainly more awake in the afternoons; it's not perfect but it's worth trying to skew your dose in this fashion.

            Thanks all ... I am definitely going to stay where I am at for now. I leave tomorrow early morning, at least I don't have to worry about a big Super Bowl hangover.:hitme:

              It's the changing of the dose that brings on SE's. Either way. It's a weird drug.

              Although in my experience, going down has always produced much fewer and less severe SE's.

                I had more SEs when titrating down. Or I may have thought I did. I wasn't expecting them so I was surprised. My dr said to go up or down 10 mgs every 4 days.
