    Baclofen removed from Forum title???

    Hi everybody,
i just notice right now that the title of this forum section title has been change!!!
Why this? It's really a bad sign...
As you probably remember title was "Topamax, Campral, Naltrexone, Baclofen, other meds" and the word "Baclofen" in the title was really important both for people that comes here searching info about this drug then for search engines with "Baclofen forum" query... and let's say even "formally" to give some kind of place and importance to this essential tool to cure alcoholism!

From long time i was thinking that Baclofen would even deserve a dedicated section in this forum due to the evidence that most of the threads here talks about Baclofen that is IMHO and for clinical results and personal experience of a lot of people, is definetely the one that work best... or anyway really well.

Are the admins afraid that the traffic maybe was growing too fast because a lot of people want to be cured with this medicament?

    I'm really disappointed about that
and would like to ask some comment from you and specially from the admins of this forum.
Maybe we have to migrate all to the Baclofen Forum
(Baclofen For Alcoholism and Other Addictions) founded by Lo0p and the others ?

I would like to hear your voice...

    Baclofen removed from Forum title???

I noticed that this morning, I have pmd a few members regarding the matter. it is disappointing indeed.I was going to create a post like you did, but I wasnt sure if creating a post was a good idea, but I guess it doesnt matter.

Note that naltrexone and baclofen have been both removed. when people search for anti craving drugs, the best one after baclofen is naltrexone. i was searching for naltrexone when i found this sub and thus baclofen. I think the mods may have removed those two words so that this forum does not appear in google search results. perhaps they want to kill off the meds section, perhaps due to heated topics in the meds forum. recent death of two members or discussion of liquid baclofen, not to mention that clown that was trying to sell powdered baclofen via silkroad the other week.

it would be very disappointing if they were trying to stop the meds section as its so hard to find information that isn't dismissed by people so readily.

      Baclofen removed from Forum title???

i've been sitting on this for a few weeks now, but i've setup a subreddit on reddit to discuss baclofen.

the advantages of reddit are that its a very modern forum, it can be moderated easily, sticky threads and a side bar of information. I have started migrating some of the good posts from over here to there.

The consolidated baclofen thread i copied across from the one on MWO has most of the data anyone needs to get started

      Consolidated Information Thread : BaclofenForAlcoholism

The internet has changed, silos of forums are the old way of doing things, important information is bumped off and lost easily, sticky threads can be a bit clumsy, forums are difficult to gain popularity. the benefits of reddit is that people when they recover wont disapear, they will stay on reddit for other reasons and chime in to give advice for other members. moderation facilities and data recovery are already built into the website for free. reddit even has the ability to "shadow ban" people i.e. they can post but nothing they write will ever be seen by the public, could be useful around here

so have a click around and subscribe, im always on reddit so if the subreddit gets popular ill start posting there more and more.

        Baclofen removed from Forum title???

        hi neophyte,
good that you react so fast! ;-)

About this histories of Liquid Bac + powdered one, if it's a problem would be enough to have a good moderator and is done.
We all knows that this is not a "dangerous" place and that Baclofen is NOT DANGEROUS (if taken with the normal precautions as for all the other medicaments).
Thousand of people take it from the 70s! for MS, even in high dose, and when we ever heard about some problem?
Would the medical community make something if it was a dangerous drug??? Obviously yes.

Baclofen is simply a drug and require some obvious care when you take it. It's all what i think.
We all knows even that its much easier to overdose and die with other drugs then with Baclofen.
Said that... it would be surely really good to know the "real" cause of death of this last friends that leaves us (i really doubt that Baclofen have something to do...).

The problem i think is much complicate and that Baclofen is a "disturbing drug" for the market because it works, is cheap but cannot be patented anymore.
It seem to me that this can be the real reason...

In France they arrive to make approve Baclofen for alcohol addiction from the local FDA (ok temp approve but anyway) thanks even and mostly to all those active people in the 2 forums that exists there.
Are they afraid that something like that can happen somewhere else???

About Reddit, good that you are trying to make something but i'm sorry... i really dont like the platform.
I prefer the standard classic forum and i'ts imho even easier for a lot of people that are not too geek or not at all.

The problem is that, and by necessity, baclofen is mostly being accessed via online pharmacies and people making the liquid stuff at home.

          It doesn't look good.

I found dedicated forums a bit quiet, and not as diverse nor active as MWO. I do visit the Sinclair forum but only perhaps once a month or so just to pick up on whatever is hot at the moment.

If a baclofen forum can keep active then that's good, but I think many will find good support from a more general medication forum where different approaches are explored.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

...It is strange that they removed naltrexone and baclofen. Perhaps we're looking too deep into it?

Or it could come from the recent tragedies that involved baclofen? However, that doesn't explain why they would take naltrexone out as well.

As I mentioned in questioning to Neophyte, maybe they just wanted to shorten the sub-forum title?? I don't forsee them banning us from discussing baclofen on here.

Ukblonde, bacforalc forum is quiet due to the participation always being in here. It could flourish quite beautifully if there was more action going on in there. Not to mention, us having control of the forum, limits the trolling activities and can tend to problems much faster. We only have 250 members, many of them being only one time log ins.

^^^ I think that's what it might take for baclofenforalcoholism to start getting busy. I can't see people moving too much of their own accord. Its been open a good while now. The TSM forums is the same, no one really seems to hang around. I used to have a read on the French forum which is awesome. Maybe it will just take time.

I'm not too up on law and stuff but could who ever is running the board be covering themselves from getting shut down? Say a bit of bad publicity getting into national news or something mad like that?

I mentioned the same thing on my thread Sunday or yesterday. I def think it has something to do with getting it overseas. Shame.

MWO links to River in the banner ads, so I would guess online ordering is not the issue. Aside from that I don't want to speculate though, as I have no earthly clue.

Keep an eye on your threads, I guess, but there are so many with "baclofen" in the thread title that this site will surely remain among the top hits of google searches. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but changes do make me edgy... just in general anyway.

                    Change in forum title

The forum header was changed because of width limitations associated with some formatting changes we are considering. It would not affect search engine results and represents no editorial decision about the topic. We left the first part of the title as is, thinking it would remain easy to find.

As the list of of anti-craving drugs grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to include them all in the thread title. However, we will revert back to the earlier title so there is no confusion about this.

                      Thanks Forum Moderator!
It simply looks more coherent with the content of this thread (mainly about Baclofen, in fact... but not only).

And good to know that anyway there was not any "editorial choice" behind...

                      Good work!

Thoughtful insight Mandi (and others) -and thank you all for calming the waters.

                        Just some thoughts:
                        (1) Baclofen and other newer recovery medications are here to stay
                        (2) MWO probably realizes the tremendous traffic driven to this site by baclofen
                        (3) MWO has been extremely supportive of "baclofen" (off-label support)
                        (4) Fact: Google "alcoholism + baclofen"
                        (5) MWO has always supported other methods other than their own "way"
                        (6) Baclofen is "not" a controlled substance (btw)
                        (7) The new and growing site: "BaclofenForAlcoholism.com" is growing -slowly but steadily -just takes time. It offers great insight and knowledge about baclofen and has extremely reputable authors behind it. I can only believe that the two sites will only compliment each other in the future.

We all know that alcoholism is here to stay and I want to always believe that new medications and research are in place to combat this deadly disease. Thank you MWO for providing this location for us to help spread the "news".

A quick note just for who will read this thread just now and don't understand what is going on... ;-)

En brief, i just connect to the forum this morning and saw that the main title was changed to:
                              "Topamax, Campral, and Other Medications",
Baclofen and Nal disappeared... so i got little angry (for Bac - maybe even too much ;-)

Everyhthing is back to normal and is good.
Sorry to admins if my tones where little high but it was really a non-sense for me.

This forum helps and is really good that exists so thanks MWO.
Let's hope that the Baclofen community will grow more and that tomorrow there will maybe be a dedicate forum here...
