Help with Doctor
I am seeing a new psychiatrist on March 18th and I want to discuss baclofen as an option with him. I noticed in another thread that someone mentioned several studies that they took with them. In the FAQ thread it references a Lancet study, but the link is broken. I'll do a little googling and probably find it, but is there anything else that would be beneficial? Thanks for the help!Tags: None

Here's some info with o/a the link to a Lancet article.
There should be also several links in another thread, but I don't remember where right now.
There's also a French study that followed patients for 2 years, but I can't find the link. Someone else maybe could help you to the link. That one you have to take with you.
Success!

I checked all the links, none of them is a dead link.
Some are in Dutch, but that's only general information. You should be able to find that in English too, or otherwise translate it using Google translation.
I hope it will be of help to some of the aspirant Baclofen users getting started (or convince their doctors) and for the existing users, maybe there is some that you never read.

I also took two case reports, Ameisen's report on himself, and one by a Dr. William Bucknam in Ann Arbor, Michigan. You should be able to find them with a quick Google search.
I would stick strictly with the scientific stuff. No wikipedia entries, no references to Ameisen's book, etc. Two people here told me their doctors had visceral negative reactions when presented with Ameisen's book.
Also the baclofen4alcoholism website has been thoroughly discredited on other threads in this forum. In the middle of my life's journey, I found myself in a dark wood, as I had lost the straight path. It is a difficult thing to speak about, how wild, harsh and impenetrable that wood is. Just thinking about it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death, but in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. --Dante, paraphrased

Hi Anonygurl and welcome here.
Is not always easy to "convince" the doctor but if you go there well informed and motivated i'm sure you can do it!
There are enough "proves" that Baclofen works and who can prove it more than real alcoholics that don't drink anymore (or just occasionally)? ;-)
Few more clinical trials are on the way and a French one will have results really soon.
Here an external link that i found really useful (a collection of links): Baclofen info
and even here obviously this thread: consolidated Baclofen information
Ask in case of any doubt or question...

Update, it worked. I really like this doctor and I hope that everything continues to go well. Now I'm just trying to figure out where I should fill my RX on a regular basis. I just posted a new thread because I feel like the different brands of baclofen have different effects.

This is exactly why it would be so helpful to have a "real" generated list of documents to go in and sit down with a doctor. A Wikipedia definition of baclofen followed by some French studies is just not going to help promote the baclofen idea. I mean no disrespect to anyone by saying this. But if we are to continue to promote baclofen as a solution to alcoholism, surly we can generate a list of documents for one to take to the doctor..
