    Missed multiple BAC

    Wonderring if anyone knows.

I left home for a day trip and forgot my baclofen.

    I take 3 x 25mg. 8am, 3pm, 10pm.

Took it yesterday morning. Not home until dinner time tonight.

    That's 4 doses missed.

    Should I be concerned?

    Thx.

    Hi Bunge,
best thing to do is to contact who give you the therapy and ask to him/her!
    A doctor... maybe???
Baclofen is a drug that need to be taken seriously.
Is not dangerous but is not a candy.
    Baclofen started: January 2013
    Switch (sort of): April 2013 / ~165mg
    November 2014: stable at 45mg: 10AM-15mg, 1PM-15mg, 5PM-15mg

Story: 2 rehabs. Second in January 2011.

      Months sober: 16

      Baclofen dosage since March 2011: 3 x 25mg/day or 75mg/day.

      Pros:
I really think Baclofen works. I think about drinking every day but it just is not the beast that it used to be. The thoughts are fleeting and often are followed by a feeling of indifference or disgust at the thought of drinking again.

      Cons:
I am involved in AA and am enjoying my sobriety. The danger, of course, is that my disease is trying to convince me that, because of the Bac, I may be able to drink again like a gentleman.

      Conflict:
My feeling is that there is a real danger to the drug because it does seem to work so well! Contradiction? Maybe. I just can't afford to risk drinking again and losing my family and my life. The false sense of security is what's dangerous.

      Conclusion:
Baclofen is worthwhile and effective in assisting abstinence but also possibly a great danger to your sobriety if one feels they can resume drinking.

      JMHO
      Is it you this one?
March 2011 -> May 2012 on BAC and you don't know the basics?
More than 1 year on BAC and never miss a dose?
Why when asking something like that you don't resume a bit who you are and what do you do?
Thanks for explaining better... maybe will be easier to answer you.

PS: PS: sorry to be a bit rude (i'm don't used to be) but recently here is full of people that don't understand that this is a forum to support people that use Baclofen as a treatment for alcoholism and not an hospital, not Red Cross, not ER, First Aid etc. Thanks for understanding.

        Yes, thank you emc.

The reason I asked was because I take it seriously.

Anyway, the purpose I was asking was to see if anyone else had missed a full day or two and had any dizziness or other side effects.

Be home in 5 hours anyway. Not much I can do about it now.

Actually emc, you're not a bit rude, you're a lot rude.

I simply have never forgotten my pills when I went away before. Have never missed more than a single pill at a time. Was wondering if anyone else had.

You're a piece of work. Do you drive a lot of people away from this board? I think probably so.

          Cheers.

I suggest you take a dose when you arrive home at dinnertime and another dose before you go to sleep.
Tomorrow you continue with your normal schedule.

I think you should be fine. Severe withdrawal symptoms will normally show up when you withdraw for several days.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Just a little update. Made it home. Don't know if it was psychosomatic but I was certainly feeling anxious all day today.

You know, this is the first time I've missed more than one dose. It really did relax me when i got home and took it adding to my believe that baclofen does also aid in anxiety along with cravings.

Although, as I said, maybe it's all just in my head. :P

                Thanks

I think it could be an early baclofen withdrawal effect. If you want, you could take an extra 10 mgs or so to your "before sleeping" dose.

In my experience (and others' too, of course), baclofen does indeed aid in anxiety.

An old pun, but appropriate: It's all in your head.

Knock off work early anyway though. It's a really pleasant thing to do.

I take mine in one dose, and occasionally forget a dose. It makes no difference that I can see.

The 1/2 life mentioned in the researches, etc. mostly refers to the blood level.

Apparently, it is not proportioned to the 1/2 life effect on the brain.
Like I said it before, it seems to be "stored" somewhere.

Months ago, I went to one dose in the morning because remembering multiple doses during the day proved problematic. I've experienced no bad effects with this, and it's helped me to not miss doses at all. I use a pill box thingy.
