Baclofen side effects and how to deal with them

Erm ... Tony Basil? oh you mean the Mickey So Fine thing? Nah, I just used get girls at school singing it to me when I was a kid. Kind of liked it! Good for the ego !!!

One thing I would like to know now that its becoming a possibilty, (cant believe I'm actually say this as its not even sunk in yet!), If I go alchohol free but I'm not yet at my switch, will it be dangerous?

I'm not 100% sure I'm there but I have had 3 free days in the last 2 weeks, not in a row though, but I was wondering if its risky to try for more given that I've been drinking for about 20 years?

I would like to try for more free days but tonight I got more tingles everywhere and wondered if thats because I'm going into withdrawl. If I hit my switch can I safely just stop? no vitamins or other supliments?

Seems a bit scary but I'm now seriously starting to believe its a real possibility :-O

Typically, on baclofen you would not get severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms, because baclofen will substitute for the lack of GABA, instead of the alcohol. Even if not at your switch. However, if you are able to go several days AF in a row without severe cravings, you might be close to the switch or even already hit it.

I suspect the tinglings are a baclofen side effect. Not something to worry about.
But I'm not a doctor, of course.

About the vitamins and supplements: Most alcoholics have a short of vitamins B.
I heard that they also lack magnesium and calcium. As a matter of fact, I just bought a bottle of magnesium/calcium today, because my mood is not too well lately. See if it helps.
It seems the magnesium has to be magnesium citrate, because magnesium oxide is not absorbed very well.

I had been drinking for over 20 years also

On the bottle I bought it says 4 tablets each day (I don't remember how many mgs., but they are huge pills, hard to swallow), which would be 100% of the daily need of magnesium.

Considering that I will probably get at least 50% of that by eating normally, I will only take 2: one in the morning and one in the evening.

A bottle with 100 tablets (magnesium/calcium citrate) cost me over $12 but hey, over here even the local beer in the supermarket costs over $35 per case. Everything over here is expensive, so you probably should be able to get it cheaper.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Interesting change in the way I'm reacting to brands of baclofen today:

I was previously using 25mg Baclofen neuraxpham which I bought from germany

I got a new batch bought from the same supplier and this time I bought Baclofen AL instead.

All the crushing tiredness is cleared up within hours of changing!

I still get that dreamy feeling that I got from all baclofen I've been taking from the start but the other neuraxpharm stuff was kicking my ass! could hardly function on it. Even after a week of staying at 210mg!

As soon as I switched I was able to go up to 225mg last night and not even a hint of the tiredness I was getting with the other!

I looked around the forum and theres a post about someone finding that some american versions where not doing the trick for them, neuraxpharm is on his list of ones they did fine on.

Maybe just one of those things I guess
