Has anyone had to have surgery while on Baclofen? I'm going to need to (nothing life threatening). I'm already dosing down at 110 currently. I'm assuming I'll need to get down to zero which concerns me.

Surgery and Baclofen
I know of three others who have had surgery while taking baclofen. I don't really remember the circumstances...I know it worked out in all cases and I'm pretty sure none of them went off of it. (Lo0p and two women. I would suggest a search, because the threads are here, but I can't give you enough info to suggest how to find it. One had cosmetic surgery on her face, I think. I can't remember the other one at all...)
What I do know is that your doctor and the anesthesiologist must know that you are taking it, or that you were taking it if it's recent.

Thanks, Ne! I actually did a search and found Lo0p's post regarding his surgery, after I had already posted. It looks like I just need to tell them. I am concerned how to explain that I'm taking it without a dr's prescription, though. I'll do some more searching for the threads. Thanks again!

Surgery and Baclofen
Don't tell them that it isn't prescribed? Just put it on the sheet and let them know. You're well within the range for muscle spasms. Restless legs syndrome?
I actually think that taking it without a prescription is a pretty big deal for some (most) docs. I guess it depends on your relationship with the doctor and what you're having done...

Tell them.
I had only day surgery. However, my feeling was anything could happen in any surgery. They should know what drugs you are on.
Told the surgeon I'm in recovery and on an anti-craving script. He congratulate me and said thanks for telling him and no problem.

Good luck.

Surgery and Baclofen
I had some minor surgery on my legs while on baclofen. I decided not to tell them I was taking it-but this is only because I knew what I was being given for anesthesia, and I wrote to an anesthesiologist about the safety. That still wasn't a great idea. What if I'd had complications and something happened? People would have needed to know I was on it. It's sad we feel we have to hide this. I'm glad your doctor treated you respectfully, Bunge. That's the kind of response we all should get!
I might need to have another minor thing done that will require anesthesia. I'm still waiting for my consultation appointment. I think this time I will tell them. And I'll probably even tell them the truth as to why.
Good luck, Yourfriend. This Princess Saved Herself

Surgery and Baclofen
My Friend,
I wrote about my surgery a year ago, and my serious concerns about it, being on maintenance baclofen. Please look back, or pm me.
No need to go to zero. I just lost a longer post, so will keep this short.
I miss Evan, he helped me personally. I love all you guys, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Much Light. :h
Love, Eve

Surgery and Baclofen
My surgery was one day, no overnight. At the time I had a legit prescription from Dr. L, and I gradually reduced my dose in anticipation of my surgery. I think I was around 110, or so. I told the doctors I was at 80, for restless leg and back spasms, or something... can't remember. I didn't mention alcohol. They looked it up, saw 80 mg, and no one questioned it. It wasn't a problem at all, physically or with the doctors.
Best of luck to you..:h
