Thank you, Sam. I knew a horrible stomach flu was going around a couple of months ago but not now. I appreciate you letting me know. He's been sleeping since I put the heating pad on his tummy.

What are you going to do today?

Oh, Red. I'm so sorry! Hope the munchkin is much, much better today.

Great snack, bk. Yum.

I spent the entire day unapologetically playing in dirt yesterday. I'm actually doing less gardening and more landscaping, so it's hot, hard, heavy (for me) work. It was nice to focus on just one project and see it through. (Didn't finish, but whatever.)

I'd love to do the same today, but Ed's off and I think we should do something fun, and not just chores. There are festivals all over the place, so we'll pick one and do that. There's a strawberry festival at the beach, about a mile from here, so maybe that one? Maybe something a little more exciting, though. I'm waiting for him to wake up and then we'll see.

My great uncle owned the rights to the distribution of a liquor brand across several southern states for decades. Family lore has it that he swore that he got into the liquor business the day that prohibition ended. (And, yes, folks, I come by my alcoholism genetically from a loooong line of it.) So while I'm totally joking about growing mj, (and we don't smoke) it would have been a very lucrative farm. Sadly (happily?) we don't know anyone in the business and it wouldn't be wise to start now. Especially in my state. Why does my only get-rich-quick scheme threaten federal prison time? (Or do they all???)

Hope it's a good, fun-filled and/or productive day for you all. See ya' later

That hike sounds amazing. For less than $300/night you can get someone to carry your bags, guide you and cook for you! (Creates a rather expensive camping trip, but hey. Why not? Except...moneys.) Are you going alone or with a group?
Just me and a friend, with everything on our backs. Taking porters seems to be cheating, plus the whole adventure is sort of ruined if there are 15 people waiting on you at every campsite. Part of what makes these things so special is being in the middle of nowhere all alone.

I was going to answer your question about the lawn, but then decided not to for absolutely no reason. I do know that I would rather have a concrete floor outside than have to cut the grass every week.

From someone living in Los Angeles, don't be so sure about that...

Yep. Totally with you on that one. Next house is going to have a very small yard. If we stay in this one, I'm planting bushes and putting down gravel. Totally over grass.

What are you going to do today?

He's doing fine now. He woke up fine and I was able to go to work today. I'm not sure what all of it was about. I gave him some some simethicone last night too. I wondered if he was having gas pains. I'm just glad it wasn't the flu-then we'd all be at risk!

The lawn mowing...I've taken to paying someone this year. I just can't do it with everything else. He charges me $30 bucks and my lawn is between a 1/3 and a half acre. So a bigger lawn for the burbs. What he charges me is a good price, considering. It's certainly worth it for me. I hope you and Ed are doing something fun, Ne.

What are you going to do today?

bleep, I think your trip sounds fabulous. Have a blast. I want to go to Antarctica and am trying to figure out the finances. I played the lottery so cross your fingers.

When I dropped to 40 mgs I got motivated and got lots of stuff done. How bizarre how different dosages affect.

bleep, I'll never forget when I mowed my lawn in the heat and had all kinds of SEs. You told me to stop. I pay my son to do it now. It's one of the best decisions I've made.

Happy weekend all. And Stuck, how cool about your submittal.

What are you going to do today?

Morning, folks.

Bleep, that trip does sound like a lot of fun. Inspires me to see if Ed wants to go for a hike today.
Red, I'm so glad he's well. whew.
Stuck, did you get hot water?
Kronk, the differences in dosage confuse me. It really doesn't make sense, and I've yet to see a reasonable explanation for them. Glad you are feeling motivated. Antarctica! I'll cross my fingers for you about that lottery ticket.

We went to the local shelters yesterday to look for a puppy. It was...ugh. And aaaargh. Heart breaking, honestly. People can really make poor decisions. Going again today to look at some puppies that weren't there yesterday, but I'm not optimistic.

Strawberry festival was also a complete bust. No way to even put a happy spin on it, except in an ironic way. Not even any strawberries! oops.

Today? Studying and moving more bushes. And that hike that bleep suggested.

Hope it's a good day!

What are you going to do today?

Bleep, that hiking trip will require for you to be in decent shape (I'm not suggesting you're not, I just noticed they mentioned it! ) They say you should physically prepare. I know you said you're doing a practice hike, but will you do just one? It looks absolutely beautiful! I was on the lookout for info on dangerous wildlife-like lions, but didn't see anything mentioned.

Ne, try not to work too hard getting those bushes in! I'm working up the motivation to do some serious weeding of garden beds today. The weeds are already insane. I need to get a plan to manage those this year. I prefer not to lay down all new mulch.

Good luck on the lotto, Kronk.

Have a nice or productive day, All! :l

What are you going to do today?

Our new nanny is downstairs making all sorts of "healthy" frozen Popsicle treats for the kids. You can buy the plastic containers to make your own. I feel truly grateful we have her. She's the best nanny I've had yet. Our last nanny left to go to music school in Sweden. She is incredibly talented, and I'm glad she's following her dream, but before she left she posted an ad on FB searching for a new nanny for us. She hand picked A, and told me she'd be perfect here. She was right! It makes quite a difference in our lives to have someone. I feel very lucky.

What are you going to do today?

This morning I finally finished the stairs. Although it took me about 40 hours, I saved nearly $ 1,000 by doing it myself and I'm sure that the result is better than if I had it done by one of the so-called carpenters here on the island.

This afternoon, I harvested some coconuts, bananas and some local fruit the call "macapruim", which taste a bit like plumbs.

I also called my sister in the Netherlands, because tomorrow it's here birthday and tomorrow I will not be home on time, because of the time difference of 6 hours.
I also called my best friend, who also lives in the Netherlands.

Now I'm going to read the online news and after that I will try to start the diesel generator that I bought for parts to repair mine that broke last year. Attached files
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I am so incredibly glad that the nanny has worked out so well, Red.

The stairs look good, X. Congratulations! Where do you go to harvest the fruit? Around here if we want fruit off the vine/tree/bush we go to the farm and pay to pick.

Bushes in, even the ones that I moved more than once. Woop! And no puppy, though we looked again. Which, frankly, is both a yay! and a boohoo.

See you on the morrow.

Unfortunately not Red - it's in the Eastern highlands, which is a bit too chilly for most of the critters. The only danger is falling off a mountain, which people do occasionally, and then are never heard from again, but we are reasonably experienced. As to physical fitness, I've been doing some weights, and hiking with my kids strapped to my back in a harness. They aren't as heavy as the pack we will be taking, but I reckon I'll be ok.

It's in the middle of winter in the coldest part of the country, so we plan on freezing almost to death, but I won't mention the temperature for fear of being laughed off the forum.
