Spam?? Admin help?
I just received this:
Roberta Jewell wrote: We are doing our best to get rid of them as quickly as we can. RJ will be giving an update about the site soon.
Thanks for contacting us. We are a volunteer-based site and we all work full-time jobs so sometimes it is not possible to keep on top of everything in a prompt matter.
Thank you,

It is going to drive people away from this site if it appears that there is no control and perhaps the site is insecure.
Could also please update about the future of the site?
Thank you.

I've only been back here a short while but have reported several spam messages. It's the most pointless and aimless spam too, not even any clearly worded links in case anyone was stupid enough to fall for it and want to buy something, and Japanese and Russian text in some of it. Even if it's all bots it doesn't seem to have any purpose.

Greg, that's what spammers are paid to do. They post on sites, prove their postings and get paid for it. Hundreds of other sites receive the same msg whether it's related to MWO or not. Kind of like the viagara spam 80 year old women receive, it's unwanted, unsolicited and irrelevant.
MWO is being operated at the moment by volunteers and there may be few to none operating presently.
Let's just be patient and see if it clears up.Enlightened by MWO

I just got my first 2 spam messages today - in Russian & possibly Chinese. How odd, not seen any previously whilst some of you have been getting them for ages.
Ordering baclofen online from some pharmacies gets you endless email spam for viagra which is what they assume everyone who visits an online pharmacy is buying. Is this why MWO is being targeted, because of all the discussions about buying drugs online?

Molly,
I get spam for years, although I never ordered any drugs online ever.
They vary from drugs, gambling, porn to replica watches, etc., etc.
And if all the money they want to believe me I won was real, well.
A lot of e-mail addresses are "sold" by certain companies. Not always fraudulant companies: over here, even the Chamber of Commerce does that.
Also, lots of e-mail addresses are obtained by chain letters, regular e-mail, through public information on internet, etc.
How many times do you receive a mail with a cc to over 20 other people? Voila, for the spammer that's 20 e-mail addresses extra.
Like flies and mosquitos, you never get rid of it. It's annoyimg, but the only thing you can do is throw it away or report it.
Sometimes I reply to mails claiming I won a lot of money and tell them to donate it to charity, because I don't need it.
When they ask me for personal information, I state at my e-mail address: f*ckyou@*sshole.com
So I even try to get some fun of it, once in a while. (I just realize how sick I am)Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Its too easy to sign up to this forum. There needs to some sort of validation. Its one of the only forums I use that you don't even get an email link to vertify.
Its really random spam as well. I know getting spam for Viagra can be random but this just a bunch of random s**t.

Xandrian, I am fairly sure the ones that reach my inbox are via the internet pharmacies, because gmail has an excellent spam filter so I only get a spate of them if I have put an order in online - normally they go straight to the spam folder. I have occasionally looked briefly at this folder & it is a nasty shock - I'm really glad I don't have to plow through this sort of unpleasant stuff every time I go to my inbox. My regular supplier of baclofen doesn't do this, but they don't supply Seroquel, so I had to go elsewhere for this order - that was when I noticed it. For my email I just need to click "report spam" if they appear in my inbox & after a while they stop coming again.
With other email accounts prior to getting the gmail one, I got loads of the ones you describe for the other rubbish. Now I only have a spate of them just after the Seroquel order, all for viagra. Oh, & the order arrived with 4 free viagra tablets, there was no option to refuse their generous offer! I'm still trying to find a pharmacy that supplies Seroquel that doesn't do this.

Yes, it works really well, I read about it on here - before I was using the anti-histamines you can buy over the counter, which stop working eventually. I know if you can wait it out, sleep gets better once you have given up alcohol, but being awake in the early hours drove me demented as well as destroying my concentration at work the next day.
