    Topa and weight loss?

does anyone know if the weight loss that often accompanies topa occur due to diminished appetite, or is there something else going on? (I'm getting mine this week, can't wait for AF to be easier, and I'm very anxious to lose more weight than I care to admit!)

    Topa and weight loss?

I'm wondering the same thing actually.... I have been taking Topa for 8 days now and have noticed a change in... bowel motions and wondering if that's a topa side effect which contributes to weight loss.

I have not experienced loss of appetite (damn it!)

      Topa and weight loss?

For me in the begining it wasnt so much a loss of appetite as much as a loss of desire for junk food. Healthy food tasted so good and my desire for other stuff just wasnt there. And it just seemed like I had more will power. But if you call that a side effect - that and all the other side effects wore off. So take advantage of it while you can. I lost 36 lbs but have gained 15 of it back. So watch out for that.

        Topa and weight loss?

        Hi

I have lost 23lbs since October. I started Weight watchers then, but started MWO in January and Topa then. I definately noticed a decrease in appetite on Topa and it was easier to stick to my points and maintain my weight loss. Of course, because I wasn't drinking as much (due to MWO) I was consuming less calories...so I think it's a combination. But Topa played a big part and I'm now at my goal weight for the first time in...oooooh many many years.

        good luck.

          Ditto what Gabby said.

Lost weight (8 lbs) the first time I was on it but gained it back. It was a loss for certain foods. But eventually it wears off & you begin to eat normally again. Just like the funny "metal" taste of carbonated beverages-that goes away as well.

The second time I went on Topa-nothing...no weight loss.

So I would speculate it is a temporary thing. Like Pebbles , if you incorporate a weight loss program into it then there might be significant weight loss.

            Topa and weight loss?

Thanks for the responses. I figure that just cutting out the thousand calories of alcohol each day will do wonders for my weight, as well as having the energy and motivation to exercise.

              Topa and weight loss?

Miss Bubble burster here... No weight loss side effect for me. I still have the carbonated drink weird flavor thing going on and it has lasted since March. I don't really mind it though since I mixed my vodka with soda water and I think that helps me to dislike it still. (Big grin!!!)

                Topa and weight loss?

I think it is 3600 calories = 1 pound. So, if you are drinking 1000 calories every day, that's almost 2 pounds per week you should lose JUST from the calories in the alcohol. Of course, it may not come off exactly like that, but it should make a big difference. Good luck! I'm hoping that this program will boost my weight loss too. I'm probably not gonna take Topamax (Naltrexone instead), but hope the calories saved from not drinking and more energy to exercise will help. I exercised today after not exercising for like a month and two doubles last night. Yuk! I got through it, but I could definitely feel that I drank last night (even though that is not even much for me).

                    Topa and weight loss?

                    Jeepers,
I'm sure my husband would have wished my libido would have gone through the roof.
I guess topa affects everybody different. I never got that metal taste but I don't like sweets as much any more.
I don't have much of an appetite anymore and food doesn't appeal much to me. I can see how they give topa to people that binge eat.
Now if I can only get it to work on my libido!
