    Indifference

The mods (or lack thereof) have condoned openly disruptive trolls, spammers, cyberstalkers, and now this clown before us who needs no introduction. Not surprisingly, people stopped posting, including me.

Another forum rose from the members of the Car and Driver forum who got sick of the lack of moderation when they migrated elsewhere. With very active, involved moderation, it became a tight community with very rich discussion. That could have happened here. We repeatedly complained about the trolls, spammers, idiots and freaks but to no avail. I know something was done because they were somehow permanently run off- but why after they had the run of the place for YEARS???

I'm sorry- that's my rant. Moderation is what separates a forum people want to participate in from a cesspit people drop in on to giggle at like topix or 4chan. I tried to participate in the past, really, but dear god what a fruitless endeavor that became.

      /b 4ever.

The meds have always been the orphan stepchild of MWO, and that's not going to change. This section is also consistently one of the top google hits for 'baclofen' and that's not likely to change any time soon either. I like this place. I have friends here - some of whom I've spoken to on the phone and some I've met in the real world, and one very important amazing woman who doesn't post anymore but is an awesome penpal. I think this place is worth fighting for.

This person who is disruptive and persistent at the moment is a bumbling fool. He's not malicious, he's just an idiot. There is a mean streak undercurrent to many posts and yes, it is infuriating, but c'mon. This dipshit drunk is not going to destroy - or really even effect all that much - my favorite corner of the Internet.

Simple as this- actually moderate this place, and they will come. The excuse I've heard repeatedly is "this place is run by volunteers". Well, they're not doing their jobs. Find new ones. Easy. Change the registration process to deter spammers. Have the mods be active participants rather than people who react to a crisis well after it's gotten out of hand. We've raised these concerns repeatedly- for YEARS.

Honestly, I think if Spirit had gotten an officially sanctioned smack down via private message after the first spate of ***OBNOXIOUS THREADS*** this would have been nipped in the bud long ago. And I've seen free forums with no advertising be run troll free for years on end- it's not a matter of funds but of giving a shit.

Cass -Thank you for this reminder. There are 10 lives lost each hour (88,000 per year) in the USA alone -as a direct result of alcohol. Baclofen can and does help people reduce their alcohol intake or even stop drinking altogether.

I apologize to you and the other members of the My Way Out forum for being part of disruptive dialogue.

I agree with what stuck said. The meds forums was IMO started for a specific program and slowly got overtook by people using TSM and Bacofen mostly. I don't think they where ready of even wanted the traffic and tbh I don't think they care. I'm waiting on a reply from a mod for days now I know I'm not gonna get one.

I've gave up on spirits posts I don't agree with most of what he writes but I'm not gonna let it piss me off. There's too much shit on the internet that can turn you bitter. I just hope for the sake of newbies that they can see what's really going on and use some common sense to trawl through the jibbereish.

Baclofen works in stopping you drink. Its really fucking so simple. Some easier than others and sadey some can't hack the SEs but there's no denying it works.

What ever your definition is of an alcoholic is.. Is up to you. Its not a pissing contest. This is where you've really wound folks up the wrong way spirit and you just won't seem to back down. There's always someone worse. You don't want too wait till your drinking turps in you local diy store to say "i am I NOW a TRUE alcoholic?"

No ones saying its gonna solve all your problems once your sober. We're not therapists. Its working for me but drink was the cause of my problems not the other way round so I'm finding that things are falling into place like a lovely fucking jigsaw. If you drunk to take away your problems then there's gonna be a battle ahead but it'll be easier sober that's for sure.

                  Hi Cass and other members.

Cass, your above post stuck with me for several days. I continued to ask myself -just exactly what was going on with my posting/threads and was I really trying to help others or was it just my ego going into full force defense/offense mode?

I will say again, I want to help others on this board, just the that they helped when I began my baclofen journey. However, I must also admit my that am susceptible to falling prey to wanting to argue.

When I read this the first time: 'familiarity breeds contempt', I understood to a degree what you were saying. But still, my curiosity got the better of me and I had to do a little research. I do believe you hit the nail on the head:

Idiom: 'familiarity breeds contempt': "This means that the more you know something or someone, the more you start to find faults and dislike things about it or them."

I had just never really thought about this in-depth until you brought it to my (our) attention.

INDIFFERENCE is a lack of interest , concerns and sympathy. people, who think only of their own selves, insensitively satisfying themselves, simultaneously fill their hearts with much anguish. Within them works the little worm of a troubled conscience, and they are tormented already in this life.
