I didn't click with someone being addicted to something like codeine - sorry!!

Summerglow - glad that the Nal is working for you again .... it definitely is working for me. It is an odd feeling because the mind still wants the drink right now, but the body doesn't! Yesterday the body won out - there was no way that I could have had another drink! I am seeing a reduction in my intake definitely ! Haven't had an AF day but the way things are going, I am not too worried about that.

Sorry the AA meeting didn't work out for you YKB - that sort of thing is not for me anyway, even if I lived in a place where I could be anonymous ! Where I live, folk would see my car parked there .... I have only have done my drinking at home so no-one that knows me knows I have any sort of problem! At work, they know that I like a Guinness, but that is the extent of it - I don't do hangovers !!

Badger - I had heard about carrying a card saying that one is on Nal but I do not do so - do you ?

    have a great day everyone,

    hugs, Sun XX
I am ok with it Sun, it clarified my position. I wanted to know whether it would fit, and it no longer does and I am happy with that. I'm not really bothered who sees me, some was at home, many people only ever saw me sober, but I'm not ashamed and quite happy to divulge, it's something I am proud of.

        Hi Terryk

I am still AF, 22 months tomorrow is my count! No alcohol at all in all that time.

I do have a bit of a sweet (and junk) food issue going on and have been trying Selincro(new forumlation of Naltrexone) in combination with that. The idea is that Selincro (and naltrexone) blocks endorphins and eating certain foods such as chocolate can cause the release of endorphins, so I'm sort of applying the same theory to food as I did for alcohol to break the problem.

Regards alcohol I don't have any cravings, I no longer go in pubs unless there is a very good reason which isn't to just stand there sipping tap water. Sometimes I do think "Ooh I could get drunk" or "Ooh I wonder what it would be like to have a glass of wine", but if I think it through, think about the taste I just feel sick. I do attend social events, I do go to music and club nights mixing with drinkers, I do dance. Generally I go home an hour or so before the end and get an early night.

No plans to drink alcohol in the future, alcohol holds nothing for me.

Had an incredibly difficult day today, this morning my world for a moment fell apart. I've been under a lot of strain in the last couple of days, which was showing on my face last night. Couldn't cope for about 2 hours this morning, then got myself to class.

Come on here tonight starting to work things out and a PM sent by another member says that I am self-centred, and that I attack people.

I certainly wasn't aware of that, I hardly post and when I do majority of the time it's to try and support others.

          Obviously I am not.

I dunno but right now I just damn give up.

UKB - in my opinion, you are not self centered - and you HELP people - I have no idea who sent the Pm to you but take no notice ..... I am so sorry that it was sent to you - I am not sure why folk do things like that .... please try to ignore it - it is only their opinion - if my opinion helps - then I think you are great and HELP people !!!!!! I have long had problems with worrying what others think - and am getting pretty good at stopping worrying about it - it matters not - what is important is how I feel about me inside - others can think what they want - it does NOT make me a different person! and neither does it make you a different person - you have really supported me in my journey and for that I thank you !!!!

Hi UKB, We've seen some troll activity lately. Perhaps that was the source of the bizarre pm you received. Sure hope you can ignore it.

Pretty sure I'd find it creepy as well. Sorry it happened to you, UKB.

Hi YouKayBee. I just saw your post and I’m so sorry that happened to you. I just wanted to chime in with others and say that whoever said that to you is a troll and/or out of their mind! I have never seen you say anything that could be considered “self-centered” or “attacking.” What nonsense! Please don’t let that person get to you. I’ve really appreciated what you have to say here

Thanks guys. I know I am ok, but I have a bad knee her reaction whenever I sense a bully.

My experience on this forum is that most people are warm, accepting and very supportive. It is only occasionally I have ever seen a problem. A long time ago another member and I did grate up against each other but I believe that was only because we were both under a lot of strain. We were both trying our best to break our alcoholism.

We got through it and the forum settled again.

                            A quick update.

I'm still AF, almost 2 years and 2 months, not a drop of alcohol in all that time.

I have also gotten my eating issues under control and feeling a whole lot better.

                            Oh and I got married.

I thought I might bounce this back up a bit.

I'm still totally, completely AF and have been for 2 years and 4 months, with no plans to start drinking again.

I don't need to take naltrexone because with TSM there is no need to use the medication if you don't drink alcohol.

I've also gotten my eating disorder sorted for once and for all - my behaviour with food mirrored some of my drinking behaviours and after doing some personal digging, as well as making some lifestyle changes I seem to have reached a place where I don't need to have any addiction in my life. This also involved stopping other nervous habits such as constantly playing with my hair.

I'm in a fairly good place now, no meds, no drugs bar a small amount of caffeine each day, I also removed sugar from my diet including fruit, which has removed the energy lows I used to experience.

                                All pretty good.

Had a health check recently, no risk of diabetes, very low blood pressure, all very good and performing very well in my athletic pursuits.
