As much as I'm against meds, I've got to second the advice to never, ever, EVER just stop taking them. If you aren't aware of what's happening the amount of distress and anguish seem insurmountable. I would liken it to a bad hallucinogen experience without seeing things.

Fred, I agree. I happen to be lucky and quit prozac with no ill effects. I was given it in my mid twenties and it turned my life back on. Night and day. Fas t forward to now and my brain chemistry is so different it doesn't do squat.
Cass, I will check out Gabor's message.

I'll probably be leaving this thread alone after this, but Williams' wife released a statement today. His "sobriety was intact," whatever we take that to mean, but he was dealing with ongoing depression and anxiety, as well as the early stages of Parkinson's, which he'd not shared publicly yet.
My point is to remind us that addiction - horrific as it is - is often only a part of the problem, and even in sobriety we simply must take care of ourselves.

What was Evan's official cause of death? Does anybody here know?
I have a hard time with suicide. My own sister has attempted/threatened multitudinous times in her life, even in front of her grand kids. To me, it seems like the final "fuck you".
In my sister's case, it seems to be a bid for attention, which is unconscionable when done in front of her grands.

"Obviously getting the diagnosis can make people depressed," he said. "But we also know that there's a much higher incidence of depression even before the disease is recognized. We think it's one of the early symptoms."
LA Times
(I just picked the top google hit for reference.)
It is well known that depression is a hallmark of Parkinson's and before medication, or even diagnosis, come into play.

Depression -another closet disease that kills untold millions. I certainly kept my depression in the closet and self medicated.
I know that I have posted this link before, but it sure meant/means a lot to me:
