    Antabuse availability in the UK

    Hi there

I live in the UK, used to get Antabuse from Goldpharma with no worries, but they no longer seem to stock it. Are there Anyone else here that orders it online for delivery in the UK, and if so, which site would you recommend?

    Thanks,
    D

I haven't used them myself, but I know people who get Nalmefene from here in the UK:

for Nalmefene you can get an online consultation if you don't have a prescription, & not need to inform your GP, so I would expect that you could do the same for Antabuse

Anyone got any ideas? www.pharmacy2u.co.uk is dumb for anyone considering using it...you have to fill out a 2-week drink diary prior to consultation, but since i'm abstinent its pointless. And i don't think the doc actually lets you decide what medication you get...

              ideas? fill it in maybe?

I think filling out the drinks diary is a generic thing for all AL-related medications - it's necessary for prescribing for Nal, etc.

Hi Summer, I didn't receive anything...not sure why...

Badger, Yea I'll fill out the diary for two weeks (required). But my suspicion is that they will not offer me what I want because UK GPs are heavily guideline driven, and antabuse is not a recommended treatment.

might be worth a go. what's the worst that could happen - they say no?

without wishing to be cynical, google the NICE prescribing guidelines & tailor your responses accordingly

I tried them for Nalmefene, was rather too honest with my answers & got turned down. I ended up getting Naltrexone from Goldpharma, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I got virtually the same med, at about 1/3 the price

                    best of luck

Sorry for the delay in my reply, I went to Norway to go see the Northern Lights. The booze prices there is almost enough to stop one from drinking.

I wasn't looking for Nal and the pharmacy you mentioned turned me down after seeing my diary and said I should speak to my GP.

I took a gamble on http://greaterlondonpharmacy.com/products/antabuse and it paid off. They confirmed the order telephonically within 48 hours and I received it in 10 days.

I hope this helps and that Goldpharma get new stock soon!

Thanks for you reply. Was that 10 business days or calender days? Its important because I move out of my house a week on Friday....Its a good drug, my life would be easier at the minute if I had it. I had a very risky weekend (could have drank) and I'm still on shakey ground. My cravings last around 3 hours and during that time drinking seems like the best possible thing. 3 Hours later I'm horrified that I considered it. Thing is, if conditions end up being favourable for drinking then I'm in trouble.

ITs like the swiss cheese model of mistakes. I can take a hole in one slice of the defense but when all the holes in each of the slices line up then I'm trouble....so far in the 8 weeks that hasn't happened but its realistically a matter of time.

                        Any, antabuse, somehow.

                          Hi End

I like your description of cravings, it seems too familiar. I think it was ten days in total but I understand that you are in a difficult spot re. moving house. But it's probably worth trying ASAP as moving can be really stressful.

                          Good luck!
