Hello Crocster
I am glad that you are renewing your effort to quit drinking. It's never to late. Congrats on your days so far. I read a couple of your posts in the "Newbies Nest". You're in good company there. They will help you to make it many, many more days AF.
Originally posted by CrocsterI've recently returned to MWO and would describe myself a newbie. I choose not to block anyone. I think it would be desirable if senior members/mentors could to respond to newcomers who have received replies from an "outlier" with a proforma containing some relevant info on public forums and instructions on how to look up the posting history of a member. Then trust their judgement. Getting into repeated slanging matches is oxygen to the people we're concerned about and not a good look for the site.
But, of course, you cannot see the deleted posts.
The issue with Spitfree(Duke of Delete) has been going on for awhile but got a lot more intense in the past few months. He was harassing everyone and threatening some who had or were considering purchasing meds on-line or were providing information. He did and does not care that, for many, it is an only option because of medical dogma regarding addiction.
The real hypocrisy here is he has ordered meds without a prescription to fight his own addiction.
He has since gone back and deleted as many of his hurtful and thoughtless posts he can find to deceive anyone who was not witness .
So now his only retort to any post that puts him in a bad light is an automatic "show me".
Crocster, he must think you and I and everybody else are pretty stupid.

There has been no peace ever since -at least for me. I made the decision that I wanted to keep posting information relative to medications for AUD, not only to help others but to help myself.Originally posted by Spiritfee... I am very grateful if I have planted seeds of doubt in your mind relative to Baclofen for alcoholism.Originally posted by SpiritfreeI have found that some of the senior members are less capable of having open minds to medications outside of Baclofen. They are in no way taking this stance in effort to hurt anyone or to not try to help someone, and instead, are only doing so because Baclofen worked for them, and as such such, should work for everyone. I offended some of these 'ole timers' with my thread and I regret having done so. Overall, people need to have as much acess to differing medications as is possible -in. Y opinion.
They say that the most common method to go AF is abstinence. For many, if their level of AUD allows it and they can beat the cravings, it works.
Whether it is abstinence, AA, SMART, CBT, Antabuse, Naltrexone, campral, Gabapentin,Baclofen, or simply hitting your hand with a hammer every time you reach for a drink, I am confident that everyone at MWO would agree:
Anyway that works for you is the RIGHT WAY.
If you can't find a Dr. to prescribe, sf would only agree if you went to a private rehab. He will be more than happy to assist you. He has advertised for a couple on this forum.

occam's razor applies here, old timers here who have managed to get sober often do so because of baclofen and their success with it over other medications. baclofen is discussed primarily because its backed with more evidence than other medications that it works more effectively. go look at the studies campral, antabuse, Naltrexone etc. Baclofen is the winner so far. Also go look at what these drugs actually do and its clear why baclofen is a better option then those mentioned.01-01-2014 - Indifference reached, success with high dose Baclofen 295mg.
