    Need help in the UK

Hi. I have a friend who is going through a very hard time with her drinking. She really does seem to be falling apart at the moment. Having had good results in the past with meds myself, I have spoken to her about them and she is very keen to try them.

I'm going to be placing an order for her from an online pharmacy because she is totally unwilling to talk to a doctor. The problem is the delivery time will be about 3 weeks. I'm hoping there may be someone in the UK who could help out and post me some antabuse and or naltrexone that she could use while we're waiting for delivery. I'm very happy to either reimburse you or replace them when my delivery arrives.

She needs something and she needs it now. Please, if anyone is able to help I would be eternally grateful.

You can now get Nalmafene by prescription from any UK doctor, as of last October.

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

You should be able to according to NICE guidelines but it's actually not true, most gp's have never heard of it

I take your point but Dr. Chick will prescribe it or baclofen and will advise any GP to do so or give you prescriptions. In the long run that would be cheaper than on-line, perhaps?

Surely, though, one could make a GP look into it and they would have to prescribe if you asked or they could be had up before the GMC.

Im not sure attempting to "blackmail" your GP with the General Medical Council would be the best way forward Otter

As I have mentioned before my GP is considering prescribing on the NHS in view of the research and most importantly because it is currently working for me

I currently spend iro £180.00 a month on Baclofen from an online pharmacy @ 100mg a day

An equivalent prescription on the NHS would be under £9.00 - I suspect that a monthly prescription would come as one prescription rather than per individual packet

What is your understanding of the quantity Dr Chick is willing to prescribe, per day Otter?

There are generally only two reasons why someone would not genuinely approach their GP - Both are insignificant when considered against the help a GP can offer

                Regards

                    You did get help

If you are expecting an individual to send you their prescription drugs then you are expecting too much I am afraid - You expect an individual to send you prescription through the post and risk being charged with the supply you are expecting too much I am afraid

I assume your friend has been this way for some time now so is a couple of weeks really going to be an issue - This could perhaps be a cooling off period to consider their journey forward

Maybe your friend can join themselves and post in the Nest Area - The girls and boys there are far more generous with words and encouragement than they/you will gleen from the Meds area

I am still at a loss as to why your friend will not seek medical advice - You have been reticent in this regard - Without being open, honest and frank, you come across as someone philshing for prescription drugs

                    Regards

This place has changed a lot. Years ago we helped each other here. There was a wonderful spirit and a camaraderie and yes we would assist each other during shortfalls of meds. Now there seem to be little more than arrogant, offensive, hate-filled trolls.

                      I shan't be back.
