Baclofen after eight years of being sober

    Hi,

A friend of mine has been sober for about 8 years but has strong craving from time to time. Has anybody tried baclofen after years of being clean? Just to kill the craving without trying alcoholol or drugs again?

Evanda my dear. I see your question remains unanswered. Try the French baclofen forum in my signature line. Good luck.

In all honesty the question does not make sense

I expect the OP is infact referring to her friend reverting back to Alcohol and class x drugs but they are happy to take a drug such as Baclofen?

In which case: - Baclofen has taken the edge of the anxiety that, I believe drove the reward feeling that alcohol gave me - To this day I do not know "what" my anxiety was or is - It just works for me and countless others

      Regards

I am not a Doctor - I am an alcoholic.
Thoughts expressed here are my own, often poorly put together and littered with atrocious grammar and spelling.

Yes. There are several example of people taking baclofen when they've been sober for a long time. One such is Miranda212. You can find her post/thread about it here:
BACLOFEN: The Experience - General Discussion - The End of my Addiction

Also, if your friend is interested in trying baclofen or any other medication, there is more information located at:
Forums - The End of my Addiction

It's a new forum dedicated to information about medications for alcohol use disorders. It's an attempt to have an English-speaking forum that is similar to the French one that Oscar Oshannassey mentioned in his post. (Though your friend can also look there and just use google translate. It's not a great translation tool, but helps to get the job done.)

Best of luck to your friend. It was certainly a miracle drug for me, and I see no reason it wouldn't help with cravings at this point. Gabapentin is also a possibility. I had a bit of resistance from my gp over Bac, although she did agree, but she suggested supplementing with Gabapentin which helps me sleep
