Has anyone tried Sertraline and baclofen for anxiety? If so which one did you prefer?

I suppose it depends on dosage.

I was on 10mg qd of Sertraline and it did nothing for me.

150mg qd of Baclofen is a whole different story!

I was AF over a year - I didn't use it to get off the grog - just other 'stuff' happened. I was on 50mg then 100mg Sertraline for 18 months and found it excellent. Took it at night - slept like a baby - I got sleep pattern back after years of the horrible 4am waking - and would highly recommend it.

Yes I think that Sertraline is excellent too especially for social anxiety but the baclofen posts are making me wonder if I am missing out on an amazing anti anxiety pill when I just have a very good anti anxiety pill.

.Maybe I will do an experiment some day to find out.I was just wondering if anybody else had already done the experiment.

....Anyway I suppose that I should be grateful that I have a very good pill and I am. I just like staring at the grass over the fence. If I was a cow I would have to have a wee nibble. Then I would come back and tell the other cows what I discovered.

Why would you want to consider a change if Sertraline is doing a good job for your anxiety? - What are you hoping to gain over and above what Sertraline is currently awarding you?

Have you read up on the science behind Baclofen and its use within the alcoholic community?

You know what Bacman. You are right. The sertraline wiped out a layer of anxiety and depression so what the hell am I looking for?
Im going to leave my meds alone.

Im just a curious wee cat who enjoys experimenting. If I was goldilocks I would have tried every bowl of porridge and every bed too.

Yes I have been reading bac posts for days and I read the book. That is what triggered this post. Bac rush fever is a little bit like gold rush fever. I was worried in case my pan was full of silver nuggets when I could have gold nuggets but if I am being honest I am happy in my nappy on Sertraline.

ps I am also a bit jumpy because of my other meds. I had heard of lamictal/abilify maintena years ago but I didnt take them. When I found out how well they worked I wanted to cry. I had a sickening could have/should have feeling. Im trying to avoid that trap a second time but Sertraline is genuinely working so as Bacman said... What more are you looking for? If it is working then it is working.

I'm on Day 12 AF & NF. Last few days have been tired, can't focus and like a mass headache. I had a baclofen 10mg this arvo and it really helped out so seeing how we go over the next week

Dont interpret my comments as a downer on Baclofen - Baclofen saved my life and that of many others - The point I was making is do you want to curb your anxiety alone, or do you want to benefit from the alcohol effects Baclofen has assisted so many in? - Maybe you are finding Sertraline is helping your alcohol intake by reducing your anxiety?

There is no harm looking I guess, if you are getting what you wish for out of a product there is no point in changing. If not, it's worth a try

I just want to treat anxiety.Abilify maintena/lamictal sorted out my dodgy drinking patterns. I might carry out a comparison experiment later on in the year. I just wanted to know if anyone had ever carried out the same experiment.

NR = Nicotine free. Was feeling great first week but now the good feeling has worn off a bit. Went straight to 10mg x 3 as I was AF for a fortnight and came off this site

Baclofen Treatment for Alcoholism . Will prob book in a skype appointment with their doc to find out more . Seems to relax my throat and cause snoring

Neither of them worked well for me for the type of anxiety I was experiencing. Sertraline aka Zoloft is an SSRI and bac, among other things, is a GABA B agonist. What I did notice was that baclofen's anxiolytic effects were quite subtle, in that they are different from the immediate calming effects of benzos and alcohol. Baclofen would paradoxically increase my anxiety at times but, even so, when I reached the "switch" dosage I really felt no need to drink or to use other anti-depressants, anti-anxiety meds in the from of benzos etc.
