Is it safe to use Naltrexone while tapering off alcohol.

I hit a bad spot and it was ranging 10 to 26 oz 80 proof for a couple days, stopped then lapsed again. So twice and fear of mixing drugs with alcohol. Then tried my taper using coolers and diazepam and dimenhydrinate. I did experiment using 5mg baclofen twice today and might increase the dose as I understand it can supplement with diazepam for AWS and it has I think but I kept upping my diazepam so its not really whether its working or not. I've avoided some other drugs I use because I can't tell if mirtazapine can be used while drinking. The campral is on hold until I'm stable. I'm not AF and its so frustrating and I'm so dissapointed with myself. I had 6 months the longest ever. I'm at about 6 units a the moment, 6 short cans of 5%. This morning I was avoiding using any alcohol because I got to the point I needed a drink in the morning again. I was sweating and the temperature fluctuations are crazy. Weird concept is if I stick weight on my stomach like a bag of rice the nausea goes away. The visions are also strange when I close my eyes I have a picture of reality in my bedroom but when I open my eyes things are not as I could fully see them in my visions; they are actually better. I think maybe they are memories of how bad it was. Kind of like a waking dream. I can read things in my dreams and have instincts to move items that aren't actually there. So this is Alcohol Withdrawl Symptoms and they came on so fast; days. They seem to happen faster and faster with even less use than before. Kindled badly as this like round number 10 or 15, I cannot even remember how many times I've done this. This is the first time while using proper pharma that I relapsed.

So the question lies with Naltrexone and does it make the AWS worse? Anyone with experience with this? I want this to go away as quick as possible, but am so afraid. I need to reread some studies done on this as I forget them at the moment.

Sorry everyone that I relapsed. I disappointed myself and you all.

I don't know the answer re. Naltrexone. However I had the same experience with AWS. It continued to get worse, even though my consumption was less than in the past. The last couple of times I had to detox in the hospital.

Wow now that is alot of info. A brief google search says its safe. I'll 25mg today (half a pill). I've already gone through my morning nausea and puking. Attempted by diazapam and dimenhydrinate. Couldn't find the baclofen. Didnt have the same waking dreams but my memory is not failing yet so thats a good sign. Well most of my memory hasn't failed because some things are a little odd. AWS increases exponentially imho. Extremely scary. Did you see the chart of the number of americans that use alcohol and how much per week correllated to income. Never had the come down because they were wealthy. I have money to continue but I just don't want to. I fit as severe according to the DSM-V. I have a rapid addiction specialist appointment Monday so I can figure out how I can use these together safely during my come down.

The sinclair method uses naltrexone with drinking, so it is fine to mix it if that is what you are asking.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years

The doctor said it was safe during AWS, I'll go up 25 then to 50 over 3 days. I did not get what I wanted from the doctor which was high dose baclofen and cannot see him again until august. The wierd thing is I appear perfectly normal as I have it all worked out how much alc and other meds to take, so I am normal... So I shave and shower and look like a normal person. Inside I am hurting and lapse again after the meetings. I cannot do this everyday at this point but I make a point to be presentable at all important meetings. So I appear different than than what is going on. Not so far gone that I cannot manage it; but it sucks.

I notice one important thing. I have like 6 breathalizers; so I test all the time (they do vary and you can't trust them; which is why I have so many). I am not normal and don't seem normal until there is some alcohol in me. Seems to be 30 minutes after ingestion and then testing 0.02 manages it. I managed months AF. But at the moment a little like 2 oz balances me out unless I take severe sedatives which doesn't let me live life. Just my nickle of advice.
